Bethesda Florist has identified the location of its future storefront, and the anticipated date it will relocate there. It will continue to operate at its longtime location of 4934 St. Elmo Avenue until March 1, 2026, upon which date it will open at 8125-C Wisconsin Avenue, which actually faces Maple Avenue, a Bethesda street so quaint it ends in a cul-de-sac at Lynbrook Park. There is a Montgomery County public parking lot directly adjacent to the new Bethesda Florist location. One way to think about the move is that you'll be ordering Valentine's Day flowers from the usual St. Elmo location, and Easter, Passover, and Mother's Day arrangements from the new Wisconsin Avenue spot.

ReplyDeleteMore actually relevant and useful information: This site was Bethesda’s Radio Shack for many years.
Is that the old Radio Shack site? It looks like it. I thought that entire side of Wisconsin Ave was going to be redone. The lot you mentioned already has a development sign on the other side street I thought I saw. I'm surprised they're moving there unless they bought the building.
ReplyDeletePlans to redevelop both Lots 25 and 44 are in the works and/or have been approved. I think Lot 25 is the one just behind the new location for Bethesda Florist.
Delete2:12 - Exactly. And I noticed, after I commented, that there's a lease sign on the door. That doesn't necessarily mean they didn't buy the building but that seems doubtful. I wish we could know why a business, that has operated successfully in Bethesda for decades, would select a new site that will be torn down sooner than later. We do know they owned their current building. Interesting.
DeleteSomeone is going to be mighty upset about the inner I-70S being “chocked”.
DeleteEasy parking is crucial.
