Cubano's at 4907 Cordell Avenue in downtown Bethesda has temporarily paused liquor sales. The restaurant is applying for a new liquor license from Montgomery County. Until it is successful in obtaining one, no beer, wine, or alcoholic cocktails can be served. Cubano's previously held a Class B liquor license from the County. It's unclear how the restaurant lost that license.

ReplyDeleteSidebar: Looking at the image in this article I can't tell whether it's a photo or a painting, its very good, which is it?
ReplyDelete8:45: Photo.
DeleteThanks, that photo is worthy of a poster.
DeleteHeckuva job, (Kodak) Brownie!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they just stick with Sammiches instead of catering to the booze hounds? Wasn't this place an offshoot of Louisiana Express on Bethesda Ave w- the excellent Po Boys or was is that the place on Del Ray Ave?
ReplyDeleteThe original Cubano's was a fixture in Silver Spring for at least 20 years. They opened their second location in Bethesda, and later closed the Silver Spring place.
DeleteIt's Guaradido's a block over who worked at Louisiana Express and opened up his own place, the 2 names sound similar until I recollected correctly except for the spelling.
Delete1:08pm They tout having the "best mojito in Bethesda" so liquor is very much needed for the full experience.
ReplyDeleteI can enjoy a good mojito
DeleteThis is sheer speculation but every beer wine and liquor license is renewed on April 30. If the license is not approved for renewal then it is usually because of unpaid sales or withholding taxes. Again, this is sheer speculation but it is based on a lot of experience.
