Maten's, an entertainment center featuring billiards, shuffleboard, and foosball, is coming soon to 7500 Old Georgetown Road at the Bethesda Metro Center. Founder Aaron Lippman calls the concept an "out of home entertainment" venue, and - as described on the signage posted at its future location, a "third place." Maten's, named after Lippman's great grandfather Al Maten, will also feature lounges and offer beverages for sale. Entry to the 4000-square-foot venue will come by a one-time fee of around $15, or via a monthly membership Lippman is currently pricing out in the $35-a-month range for unlimited access.

Looks good! Glad to see something opening besides a retail bank branch.
ReplyDeleteIs this in the old food court that has been vacant nearly two decades?
ReplyDeleteKID Museum has been in the food court space for many years.
DeleteNo. KID Museum has been in the food court space for many years.
DeleteNothing moribund about this. Looking forward to it. Hope they do well.
ReplyDeleteOld retired folks really like shuffleboard!
ReplyDeleteDon't knock shuffleboard!
DeleteA monthly membership is an interesting idea. Being located near the Metro could make it a nice place to stop off and relax before heading home.
ReplyDeleteI hope they do well. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteSounds promising but I'd like to see barbershop, laundry drop-off, darts, etc. too!
ReplyDeleteThere's a barber right next door! Right next to &pizza. They're good people in there.
DeleteI think this place should do really well assuming that people stop by there on the way home from work after getting off the Metro. It's a convenient place to unwind before heading home. I wish them the best and hope it all works out!
ReplyDeleteThat's cool. I would love an arcade type place here.
ReplyDeleteSHOTS FIRED! SHOTS FIRED!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I'd love it if they would find room for a ping-pong table!
ReplyDeleteSHOTS FIRED! SHOTS FIRED! SHOTS FIRED! Oh wait, that's Westbard my bad.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Like a 'Boy's Club' sort of thing? Certainly open to females, certainly but will this also draw BCC kids? Is the monthly fee meant to discourage that? No spontaneous and unruly groups like such is the new fad? What kinda 'beverages?'
