A potentially devastating street closure near Bethesda Row has been postponed. Cryptic signs referring to an unidentified segment of Woodmont Avenue closing appeared last week. Eventually, the segment was identified as being located between Strathmore Street and Wisconsin Avenue, and it was to remain closed from June 8 through August 31, 2026. Now the electronic sign boards are advising "Work Delayed" and "Road Open."

What else do we expect from MoROADbund Montgomery County
ReplyDelete"Left hand, may I introduce the right."
ReplyDelete"It is a pleasure. I've heard so much about you. Tell me, what line of work are you in?"
The Streatery resulted in essentially the same detour which was hardly “devastating”
ReplyDeleteA preplanned closure for routine infrastructure maintenance is not at all “potentially devastating”.
ReplyDeleteWell you see, the coddled NIMBY's would have to add an extra 30 seconds to their drive by going around it. Obviously this would be a devastating assault on their freedoms. I just hope they're able to brave this new and treacherous reality. Praying
DeleteGood to wait until after the Red Line station closures are finished. Southbound Woodmont will be a nice alternative to avoid the temporary one lane pinch point on Wisconsin at Elm. I’m sure Waze and Apple Maps will direct folks to Woodmont to avoid a gridlocked Wisconsin.
ReplyDelete12:32pm That was a different time. Pandemic era, yeah, close streets since Bethesda was a ghost town compared to now. We're back to normal traffic and behaviors...can't close major streets permanently.
