THE BOX BAR CLEARED OUT IN BETHESDA (PHOTOS)

The Box Bar and Grill on Old Georgetown Road is looking quite vacant. Everything not nailed down appears to have been moved out. The signage from the ill-fated Dry Fried Wings co-branding has been removed. However, the original Box signage remains.

Owner Jason McCarther had planned to reopen The Box as Roc Bar, a live music venue. Those plans fell through, and the future of the space is unknown for the moment.

INTERNAL CONFLICTS AT THE BOX BAR AND GRILL SPILL OVER TO FACEBOOK (PHOTO)

The founder of Bethesda's Box Bar and Grill, Jason McCarther, is lashing out at his later business associate, George Farrell.

Farrell took an ownership role during a tumultuous period that saw the nightspot mutate from a Hooters knockoff to a wing joint, to The Box again, and then to a never realized live music concept called Roc Bar.  At least, I think that's how it went.

Did it actually reopen? Was it called The Box yet again (the signs continue to advertise both The Box and the short-lived Dry Fried Wings)?

McCarther, and an individual identified only as "A," took to Facebook yesterday to announce The Box is no more, and pin blame on Farrell.

Stay tuned for the next plot twist in this ongoing soap opera:

ROC BAR LIVE OPENING IN BETHESDA MARCH 2, REPLACES DRY FRIED WINGS/THE BOX - EXCLUSIVE!

The Dry Fried Wings craze was short-lived in Bethesda.  Far shorter than the Hooters-style sports pub that preceded it, The Box.

Now Box owner Jason McCarther is back with a new concept to revitalize the space at 7525 Old Georgetown Road.

Roc Bar Live Bethesda will open its doors March 2.

McCarther operates a 3-level nightclub in the District called Roc Bar. But where that venue has DJ-centered music and table service, Roc Bar Live will emphasize live music.

Live bands will play 7 nights a week, and an all-new menu is being created.

Many had noted the Dry Fried Wings-rebranded space had seemed to be closed in recent weeks. For reasons not yet spoken about publicly, DFW Bar ended its run after having barely opened, with a well-promoted event featuring Dr. Benjamin Chavis and former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele.

Now Roc Bar stands to be one of the few venues to host live bands nightly in Bethesda.  Of course, Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club will open around the same time, and also plans to have live music every night.

Rejoice, fans of live music in Bethesda!

WHERE TO WATCH UFC 155 IN BETHESDA TONIGHT

Tonight at 10 PM eastern, Junior Dos Santos will defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship against Cain Velasquez.

Which Bethesda bar or restaurant is the place to catch the fight, a rematch of the most-watched contest in UFC history?

The Box Bar and Grill is the only Bethesda spot confirmed to be showing UFC 155 tonight.

The Box is located at 7525 Old Georgetown Road, right by the Bethesda Metro Center. Hence, those wondering where to watch UFC 155 in DC might just want to come out to Bethesda on the Red Line.

Although the heavyweight fight is at 10, The Box says its UFC night will begin at 7 PM.
