Smoke BBQ closes in Bethesda

2 Fifty BBQ in Riverdale should take notice. Even before this closure, there's a huge opportunity for BBQ in the downtown area. Done well, like 2Fifty, it would be among the busiest food places in town overnight. It's not easy to do and takes time and a lot of skill. Smoke BBQ, though open for a long time, couldn't be confused with excellent BBQ which, at the end of the day, is a craft. Learn the craft and great reward is almost assured.
ReplyDeleteMaybe developers can convert the space to a luxury apartment????!!!!!????
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteI heard they’re turning the spot into another chase bank
DeleteSmoke was no joke ! Great folks ran that place, sad to see them go.
ReplyDeleteAte there several times. Food was good, the staff were very personable.
DeleteIt stayed open 14 years too long
ReplyDeleteAnd then it went up in smoke.
DeleteI agree with JAC and 12:41. Some years back I tried the place, and it struck me as undistinguished, utilitarian, both meats and sides. Seldom do I cheer a place shuttering, but I can't say the passing of this business will cause me to mourn.
ReplyDeleteHot bartender with the beard. Will be a male dancer for sure.
ReplyDeleteCan’t help but be a jerk?
DeleteIf you don’t see the meat being smoked or smell a good fire, it’s not good.
ReplyDelete6:12 - Those are two critcal components no doubt. How they were open for 14 years much less 14 months is beyond me. Boggles the mind. If it were good, don't you think we'd know it by now? BBQ is an authentic American cusisne and folks who do it well, have lines out the door. Again, 2Fifty in Riverdale crushes it. You're welcome .
DeleteSome of the worst bbq I've ever had...total disapointment every time I tried them. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Clayton going now? Fastest bartender in Bethesda. SmokeBBQ had the best bartenders. Beautiful women and amazing pork hang out there. Goes hand in hand.
