BURGLARY RAMPAGE ROCKS BETHESDA'S GREEN ACRES NEIGHBORHOOD

A burglary spree has broken out in West Bethesda's Green Acres subdivision, located off River Road near Friendship Heights.

Three homes and one vehicle have been broken into just since Sunday night, according to SpotCrime, which collects crime data from a Montgomery County Police feed.

All but one incident took place within a few blocks, along connecting streets.

Here is a list of the burglaries:

Sunday, May 6:

Breaking and entering, burglary.  4900 block of Greenway Road.

Monday, May 7:

Breaking and entering, burglary.  4900 block of Little Falls Drive.

Theft from vehicle.  5000 block of Smallwood Drive.

Tuesday, May 8:

Breaking and entering, burglary.  5200 block of Westport Road.

The pattern would suggest that the same perpetrator(s) are pulling off these crimes.  It would also suggest that the burglar(s) are thoroughly casing the neighborhood by day, to keep coming back night after night.

I'm surprised the police have not issued an advisory.  Right now there are no details of the crimes, nor any description of the suspect(s).

If you know anyone who lives in Green Acres, or a nearby subdivision, please alert them that a possible crime spree is underway this week.  Without data or reports from Wednesday forward, it's unknown if the burglar(s) has/have struck again.  They are clearly brazen, confident and well-prepared, to keep hitting the same community night after night.

Residents should make sure to lock doors, windows, garages, and car doors.  Since they're probably casing the neighborhood, report any suspicious activity to the police.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
