COOL NEW RENDERINGS OF 7770 NORFOLK LUXURY APARTMENT TOWER, ROOFTOP POOL DECK (PHOTOS)

You can get the best sense yet of what the corner of Norfolk and Fairmont Avenues is going to look like in 2016, in these new renderings of the 7770 Norfolk luxury apartment tower. Created by architecture firm FXFOWLE, which also worked on the new New York Times building, the images show a view of the future building from across Norfolk Avenue, and of the rooftop deck looking toward Wisconsin Avenue. Note, of course, that the generic city scene in the background is most-definitely not Bethesda or Chevy Chase.

White metal panels and glass dominate the building's facade. The rooftop deck is similar in concept to the Gallery Bethesda, another 17-story building that just celebrated its grand opening last week. Like the Gallery, it features a rooftop pool, seating areas and grills for outdoor cooking. But the rooftop elements are laid out differently from the Gallery, with an elongated pool, and less wide-open areas. Green landscaping, of the sort in that open space on the Gallery roof, is moved to the roof of the clubhouse here (although we don't yet know exactly what that structure is, or will contain, at this point - just speculation on my part). I've zoomed in on the rendering, but do not see an outdoor fireplace like the Gallery has. But that doesn't necessarily mean there won't be one.

7770 does share some design elements with a second impressive JBG project that will be constructed diagonally across Woodmont Avenue from it, on the north side of the Fairmont Plaza condos. That should make the overall aesthetics of that part of the Woodmont Triangle more cohesive when the projects are finished.
