BLAZE PIZZA OPENING THURSDAY IN BETHESDA

The anticipated opening of artisanal pizza parlor Blaze Pizza, at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, is happening this Thursday, August 21. At Blaze Pizza, you will be able to build your own personal-size pizza, with artisanal crust and toppings, for under $8. And it will be ready in under 180 seconds, using the restaurant's "Fast-Fire'd" open-flame pizza oven.

Blaze Pizza's Bethesda restaurant, its first in the DC area, will seat just over 75 diners in its 1900 square foot space. As I reported previously, they will also have an outdoor patio for open-air dining.

Check out the menu as we await the grand opening of Bethesda's latest pizza option, one of two new pizzerias opening at Westfield Montgomery Mall this year (Naples 45 is the second).

Yeah, what's with these nonsensical comments?

  2. Why would I write about a Rockville restaurant on a Bethesda blog? I will report about that on RockvilleNights.com.

Good point. But to the issue of your high and mightiness and pride of quality news, perhaps a better response would be something like: "thanks for your interest, we really appreciate readers like you who really care about what's happening in your neighborhood. That's a great topic we'll be covering in our sister site, Rockville nights. Thanks for reading!"

  4. That might have been my response had the comment not said, "Yo, DYER. What the eff man? WRITE ABOUT THIS." I think my response was quite reasonable in comparison.

I hope that this restaurant is not in any way connected to Glenn Beck.

Though, now that I think about it, "Fruitcake Pizza" sounds like an interesting food concept.

But writing about Pike & Rose on a Bethesda blog is ok? Right.

FYI: White Flint doesn't consider themselves to be Rockville. They never will. Mid Pike Plaza is gone, embrace the future of Pike & Rose in the new White Flint.

    2. Yes, it is OK, because Pike & Rose is part of the White Flint area - which even the developers haven't agreed upon yet as to identify it as North Bethesda, Pike District, etc.

And writing about Dough Roller in King Farm is also appropriate for a Bethesda Blog.

    2. Absolutely 6:23. I actually broke the story on Rockville Nights that Dough Roller was coming to Rockville. I had extensive coverage leading up to the opening on that site. The only thing I posted here was my video review of their pizza, no different from when I post a Taco Bell video from Rockville.

I had a sample a couple of days ago, as the staff was doing a run-through. I had expected weird food given the 90 seconds or whatever to fire the freshly-made order, but it was actually normal and pretty good. It's just very thin crust and a very hot oven. Tasty and cheap. We'll definitely go back and this could be the best recent addition to the mall. (The others on which you've reported [with lobster rolls and more burger bars] don't sound appealing at all.)

  14. Are PR firms, or government/campaign spokespeople who use foul language in their promotion efforts making a good impression on the public? Not likely, 7:20 AM.

White Flint area, North Bethesda, Pike District are not Bethesda. If you're going to post about them then you might as well post about Peter Chang.

Tell that to the folks who bought units at The Midtown North Bethesda condo next to Montrose Crossing on Bou Avenue.

  19. 1:30 - It's in Rockville in my opinion, too. But it's also a redevelopment site in White Flint Phase II. All other Bethesda media websites are covering White Flint, why aren't you posting these comments on those as well? Short answer: "Anger and victimization at the loss of absolute power to control your message." - Jon Stewart

Anonymous 1:30 has just crashed home values in Midtown North Bethesda by informing home owners that they are in Rockville, not North Bethesda.

Folks, it's ultimately an editorial decision on what to cover. As editor, that falls with Robert to decide.

RockvilleNights.com is the hyper local site for Rockville.

Robert, no one but you believes it is some or firm out there with some smear comment campaign on your blog. To what end?

  25. What is with this intriguing blogsite getting inundated by Children of the Candy Corn and TrollTalk? (We're not even near October.)

Never mind. See the Sound? Like the roar of an unquiet surf on a starless night? It's just White Noise. White noise greying into dawn's early light.

    To Robert@BethesdaRow,

It is indeed disconcerting to read that an individual would vote against you because of a food review (and that involving Old Bay Spice, of all unifying factors); but perhaps that is because they might not be able to argue against your strategic, altruistic political goals. And I dare wonder: What indeed is such a vote affirming? Or is the mockery based on one content to simply coast in an 80% majority without really caring where, if anywhere, that leads their children?

One of my favorite quotes comes from Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird":

"Real courage is ... when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do."

Sometimes you do, and sometimes what you win is even greater than what you set out for in the first place.

All the world loves Atticus Finch; but he stood alone in that courtroom that day.

You aren't alone; but I respect that even if you were? You'd still stand your altruistic ground in the night, for the good of the many. Heard someone else did that once, too. And in the morning? The Flag was still there.

It shouldn't be about Parties. (Yes. I said that.) Listen to the future. Weigh the actual merits. Can you even try?

Dyer, you can post about whatever and wherever your like, but when someone suggested you reporting on a high profile restaurant coming to Rockville, you defensively responded with "Why would I write about a Rockville restaurant on a Bethesda blog?" So immediately examples were brought up of times your reported on non-Bethesda news here, that's all. If you never responded the way you did, the subsequent comments wouldn't have appeared, simple as that.

Go to Rockville Nights for Rockville Town Square news. Come here for everything happening in Bethesda. It's not that hard. Don't over think it.

    2. Actually, the examples of "non-Bethesda news" were never furnished. White Flint is being covered by all Bethesda media outlets. I don't see comments like this on those sites when they do, so they shouldn't be posted on here. The request for a Rockville story on here appeared to be a troll, particularly in the rude way it was stated. Most readers of this blog don't have "what the eff" as part of their comments.
