Ironically, that is the same day as the shopping center's Food Truck Rally event. The crabs will be steamed on site for you to take home by the dozen, or in a half or full bushel.

HOOPER'S STEAMED CRABS COMING TO WESTBARD GIANT IN BETHESDA ON SEPT. 20
Summer may seem to have ended, and beach travelers have returned home from Labor Day weekend in Ocean City. But now Giant is bringing the crabs to you here in Bethesda. The grocery chain has invited Hooper's Crab House in Ocean City to bring its "crab wagon" to town, and its only Bethesda stop will be at the Westbard Giant, at 5400 Westbard Avenue, in the Westwood Shopping Center, on September 20.
Ironically, that is the same day as the shopping center's Food Truck Rally event. The crabs will be steamed on site for you to take home by the dozen, or in a half or full bushel.

That is not what ironic means.
ReplyDeleteHe's using the Alanis Morissette definition of the word.
ReplyDeletePerhaps he meant "coincidentally"...
ReplyDeleteI want to know what kind of car Dyer drives ...
ReplyDeleteTime on your hands? Just meant that this ordinarily big deal won't get the same amount of attention, as a whole bunch of food trucks will be there for a separate event. "Situational irony: noun - irony involving a situation in which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended, so that the outcome is contrary to what was expected."
ReplyDeleteI think "ironically" would be appropriate if there was a Kosher, Vegan, or Seafood Haters' food fair scheduled on the same date. As it is, "coincidentally" would be more appropriate.
ReplyDeleteI find that last comment rather coincidentally ironical.
