MIKE ISABELLA RESTAURANT KAPNOS TAVERNA OPENING AT BETHESDA ROW

DC Dining expert Don Rockwell reports that celebrity chef Mike Isabella will be opening a new location of his popular Kapnos Taverna, in the just-vacated Vapiano space at Bethesda Row.

The Greek taverna will certainly draw fans of the Top Chef alum to that corner of Woodmont Avenue and Hampden Lane, and the name recognition could be just what that somewhat-challenging location needs to be viable.

Kapnos is known for its Northern Greece-inspired spreads, spit-roasted meats, duck phyllo and other upscale Mediterranean fare. It is also known for being pricey, which probably won't be an issue in America's Richest Town. Not to mention, the restaurant will be directly across from the new, ultra-luxury The Lauren, with condos starting "from the several millions." "Bring the car around, Jeeves, for a short jaunt across the Hampden."

Kapnos has existing locations in DC and Arlington.

To be accurate Don Rockwell has not reported this but someone with the screen game "Choirgirl21" posted the rumor on site.

    1. 1:36 Wrong again. You should have checked your facts before you attacked. Aren't you supposed to be picking up George Leventhal's dry cleaning or something?

Robert Dyer - we don't like you. We don't want your kind here.

Why can't you take the hint? MOVE OUT OF BETHESDA.

Otherwise, we will never stop trolling your life.

Bob has the best coverage of Bethesda restaurant news and reviews.

If he left, we'd be back to waiting for the Post or Gazette to cover Bethesda restaurants (we all know their coverage is almost non existent).

  5. Also, to the poster from 12:45 PM today: You were correct - and thank you for bringing my attention to a posting error on my part. Long story short - I was trying to quote two things, got distracted, and ended up mistakenly putting my post inside of choirgirl21's. It has been corrected now, and thank you for alerting me to it. Cheers, Don
