Roof, the rooftop restaurant and bar at the corner of Cordell and Norfolk Avenues in downtown Bethesdsa, has added new signage in its second floor windows. It may help to compensate for the nondescript Roof logo signs that have previously been the only signage, and may not have been enough to make clear to passersby just what exactly was up there. The new signage refers to "Roof Kitchen + Bar." Roof has a late night happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays, from 9:00 PM to midnight.
Honest question Robert, why don't you ever link to the outlet that reported the story first?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Beat/2014/Roof-Bethesda-Alters-Name-Introduces-New-Menu/
@6:04AM: Robert's story is about the new signage. There's nothing about the new signage in that old article you've posted.
ReplyDeleteGood try though!
Sorry Woodmont (Robert's mom) but if Robert truly cared about informing the Bethesda community, he'd have no problem providing a link that explains the reason for why the signage is there.
ReplyDeleteIt's a new sign, relax.
ReplyDeleteThey've had terrible signage for a year now. If you spent any time in the Woodmont Triangle, you know that already. That's not breaking news.
Roof is addressing it now. They're good people, let's support them.
Horrible signage and horrible service food isn;t so bad once you get it but the service is awful there. that is what is killing them not the signage. Maybe cut the trees back so you can see the place
ReplyDelete@6:04 I think Robert reported on the menu changes a while ago, and likely before Bethesda Mag anyway.
ReplyDeleteNot Robert's mom, but he pretty much breaks just about every Bethesda story before any other news outlets.
Robert has a complex and doesn't like to share or play with others. So while his posts often have great scoops this is why no one actually likes him. Not do they vote for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm anonymous at 7:40 and yeah I was a bit harsh there on Bobby and I feel bad about it sorry I didn't mean to go that far. It's just so frustrating reading his logic and weird defensive commenting.
Delete7:40am doesn't like Robert, therefore no one else in the community does. Great logic!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous has an odd complex and hatred of Robert that he projects on the rest of the community. It's really unhealthy.
Per rob's logic, that's evidence. Why isn't the news or anyone doing anything about this? Lol.
DeleteActually that's the exact kind of logic Robert uses when he touts "evidence"
DeleteDyer thinks that taking pictures of restaurants' signs and listing the items on their menus makes him "Bethesda's food critic".
ReplyDeleteBethesdans don't like to walk up steps to get to their restaurants. Just look at how many restaurants have come and gone in that location on Cordell that used to be above a sex shop and is now VaVaVoom or whatever.
ReplyDelete8:16AM...welcome to hyperlocal news!
ReplyDeleteRobert isn't just reporting on signs, he's reviewing the restaurants as well.
Lean back and enjoy his reviews of Bethesda restaurants, including Smashburger pictured here.

The people who spend a lot of money there do nto care about the sign, that does nothing for the ppor service there. In fact it putting up a new sign to attract patrons will make the service worse.
they can't handle the peopel they have there now, try hiring a wait staff with experience who can reemmber the specials without having to go check with antoher waiter.
They're locally owned & operated. Let's support them.
ReplyDeleteDamn: http://www.bethesdanow.com/2014/11/21/bethesdas-roof-kitchen-bar-to-close-sunday/
ReplyDeleteWow that sucks they are closing. Hope a buyer emerges and keeps it going and it works out. Woodmont Triangle really need a splash of life and was hoping this would be the catalyst. That corner with Roof, Smashburger, California Tortilla, Brickside, Olazzo, Freddy's, Rock Bottom, etc. really started to look livelier. Guess it wasn't translating to business for Roof, Freddy's, etc.....
ReplyDeleteMaybe if that bank turned into something to activate the corner more too.
@9:38 lol Dyer's going to remove your post as soon as he sees it, nothing he hates more than someone reporting something before him let alone Aaron Kraut!
ReplyDeleteHe likes to run his site like North Korea runs their govt, where he makes his readers believe he breaks all the news and everyone follows him.
Support local businesses, otherwise we'll have the same national chains.
ReplyDeleteI love the ad hominem attacks. The one anonymous guy that always says Robert hates this or that, like he knows Robert. lol.
ReplyDeleteThe one? I assure you I am not the only one. I am only responsible for some of these. Lol.
Delete@10:22 it's happened before, you post a bethesdanow link and he flips out
ReplyDeleteIt's the same lone anonymous guy who stalks Robert online here and thinks Robert hates this or that.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same anonymous mother of Robert that defends him anytime someone criticizes him.
ReplyDeleteIs the same lone guy that has some beef with Robert. It's got to be.
ReplyDeleteHe's so paranoid, that he thinks every commenter (other than himself) is Robert's mom.
Meanwhile, back in reality, everyone in town reads and enjoys Robert's blog.
I'm beating Dyer by announcing that LUCKY BRAND jeans is coming to Pike and Rose spring 2015.
ReplyDeleteAcknowledge I was the first to report it DYER.
11:17AM: At least come up with a name if you want Robert to quote you. Are you "anonymous sources"?
ReplyDeleteanonymous at 11:17 should do fine
ReplyDeleteAnother success story from Mr. Riemer's Nightlife Task Force. Another dark corner in our downtown. Good folks out of work for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteEverything Mr. Riemer touches goes to shit.
This post is outdated before it came out. Dyer is blogging about a new sign while the restaurant is saying it's going out of business. Just a slightly bit behind the news Dyer...
ReplyDeleteIt does make you wonder. They spend money to update the sign then a day later they announce they're shutting down...
ReplyDelete"Is the same lone guy that has some beef with Robert. It's got to be."
ReplyDeleteYou honestly think it's the same guy writing all these posts (99% of which correctly identify the outlandish claims and non sequiturs on this blog)?
I only read this blog for the construction updates, but sometimes click on one of the rants. I rarely take the time to actually comment though, unless the post is completely inane.
I believe that the vast majority of thinking people would have a problem with the logic on this site. Even right-wingers would have a problem with the logical inconsistencies.
^Continued...
ReplyDeleteBtw I do appreciate this blog for the news updates it provides, but as far as politics and opinion, this site has nearly 0 credibility. Hence the high number of views and negative comments.
Nailed it!
DeleteYou're the same anonymous guy, posting day after day. You say the same couple of things time and again. Get out from behind your screen and walk around Bethesda. No one shares your hyper critical views of Robert. Look in the mirror, it's just you.
ReplyDeleteI'd hardly call Robert right wing oriented. Advocating for smart growth, universal pre-k and saving affordable housing aren't really high on the right wing tea party agenda.
You don't agree with every restaurant review, that's great. It's fine to have your opinions, but please don't make stuff up.
I am a different anoynmous for sure. There are definitely at least two of us. And at least one that just talks nonsense. So three at least.
Delete7:54 It's funny, The Seventh State blog said I was to the left of the current County Council, and you're saying I'm right wing. Probably suggests I'm right on target on local issues most people care about, like development, transportation and affordable housing. "As far as politics and opinion," I have a lot of credibility, as a concerned citizen and activist for many years. What is your record of civic participation?
ReplyDeleteLOL. A single article, based on comments that had nothing to do with state politics.
ReplyDeleteSo why did they bother putting up the new signage only to close a couple of days afterwards?
ReplyDelete12:27: The whole story was about local politics, which I had discussed during the entire debate. Better check it again. The conclusion was I was to the left of the County Council. Sorry that doesn't match your tired talking points.
