THE HOLIDAYS COME TO PIKE & ROSE (PHOTOS)

Given the big holiday displays every year at Bethesda Row, I've been wondering what Federal Realty would do for the season at its newest development, Pike & Rose. Those questions were answered this weekend, and I present the festive results here for your pleasure. The tree was not yet lit at this point, but there is plenty of Christmas and Chanakuh spirit in the air even so. Obviously, the scene will be more impressive once Phase 2 of the development has been built out, as the Christmas cheer is limited in distance. But if enough of the new retail stores can open in time, this could be a real sleeper spot for holiday shopping in Montgomery County - particularly for those purchasing apparel.

Pretty. But it's still November. Early November. I hate this trend. Christmas decorations should start after thanksgiving!

Menorahs in early November, too? The silliness has become ecumenical.

Why is Bob stalking Pike and Rose? This is weird ...

Readers ask about pike and rose a lot. Bobby writes about pike and rose a lot. It's a pretty good synergy.

But Pike and Rose isn't in Bethesda? It's in Rockville, right? So why is it covered on this blog?

    I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU DYER!?

Here's the address of Pike & Rose (Hint: it doesn't say Rockville):

11580 OLD GEORGETOWN ROAD, NORTH BETHESDA, MD 20852

Oh give it a rest. It's close and it's interesting. I'm going there in an hour. Relax and enjoy.

It's not in Rockville either. The Post office doesn't know crap. They define areas purely based on convenience/efficiency. The Census Bureau is far more accurate.

Nearly the entire eastern half of Montgomery County is supposedly in "Silver Spring" and until recently White Flint Mall is supposedly in "Kensington." Until this year Tysons Corner didn't even exist.

Rockville is an actual city whose official southern border is well north of Pike & Rose, meaning Pike & Rose residents don't get to vote for a city council member or pay taxes to R'ville.

Pike & Rose is in North Bethesda or, if you have a problem associating it with the snobs, White Flint.

I wouldn't say the southern border of Rockville is "well north of Pike & Rose" but yeah, Pike & Rose is definitely not in Rockville proper.

It's in Rockville. Zip code is 20852. 2085x is Rockville, 20814/6/7 is Bethesda.

It's not in the City of Rockville. Period.

The folks who have houses in 20852 behind White Flint Mall would rather have North Bethesda on their addresses rather than Rockville. Instant increase in property values.

I think that Robert covers South Rockville Mall too much, and too little, simultaneously.
