Well, that was short. J.Cigar, a tobacco and vaping shop in Westfield Montgomery Mall, has closed after only 2 months in business. The store was one of 3 such retailers to recently open in our area, with the other two being Bethesda Vapor Company and Vape Ink (the latter of which is in Rockville).
Also closing is - well, if you can pronounce the name of this store, you're ahead of me this morning - some children's clothing store which was called something more pronounceable when I reported it opening a year ago.
Dead mall.
ReplyDeleteWe can expect to see a Burlington Coat Factory open there any day now.
DEAD MALL, ha! It's moving in the opposite direction Anony, if you hadn't noticed. These merchants did not fit the bill, cigars are passe' and the kiddie clothier was not competitive in the market. R.D. it would have been nice if you added the name of the kiddie clothing store to the article in quotes for us. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteNaartjie (Dutch/Afrikaans) is pronounced "NAWR-tyee". Not really that hard to pronounce.
ReplyDeleteThe company's US corporation filed for bankruptcy earlier this fall and all stores in the US are closing.
Kind of like when Borders closed at White Flint...
Lol. Not really that hard to pronounce. thanks mister smarty pants.
DeleteDyer is such a dingbat .... GO BACK TO YOUR HOLE!
ReplyDeleteAs a parent who has visited the Naartje store, I found the clothing there overpriced and not very interesting. Plenty of other options for kids clothing.
ReplyDeleteThey probably did not understand the US clothing market and how cheap clothes are here compared to Europe.
Re: Anon @ 10:09 AM
ReplyDeleteWhich might explain why there are more nudists in Europe than in America.....
Who here HASN'T slept with a Euro chick?
ReplyDeleteSerious question.
Naartje is the Afrikaans word, derived from the Dutch, and it means orange. See how the word KIDS is in orange letters? The store itself originated in Cape Town.

Bethesda and Chevy Chase Eastern European Nanny's are the best to party with. They love to experiment and let loose
ReplyDelete3:07 PM - You must have gone to the same school as Dyer. The plural of "nanny" is "nannies". "Nanny's" is possessive case singular.
