GOV.-ELECT HOGAN ADDS 31 TO TRANSITION TEAM

Maryland Governor-elect Larry Hogan expanded his transition team by 31 yesterday. "The individuals standing beside me today will round out what is a strong, diverse, and bipartisan team," Hogan said at a press conference at the Maryland Department of Budget and Management in Annapolis.

Notables names from Montgomery County on the list include Gary Mangum of Bell Nursery, a business that goes all the way back to the 1920s in Silver Spring; developer Bryant Foulger of Foulger-Pratt; and Rose Li, a Bethesda resident who was a 2014 Republican candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates.

Boldface names from around the state added to the team include Hugo Decesaris of homebuilding giant K. Hovnanian, Maryland State Senator Anthony Muse (D-Prince Georges), Maryland Senator David Brinkley (R-Frederick), Delegate Justin Ready (R-Carroll), and political strategist Kevin Igoe.

Among the appointees who reflect Hogan's push for diversity are Chong Nak Son, of Son’s Quality Food Company, who sits on the board of advisors of the Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington; the Reverend Eric Barksdale, Pastor of St. Charles Baptist Church in the District, and President of the National Capital Baptist Convention; Sharon Pinder, director of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development, and a statewide advocate for minority-owed businesses, as well as CEO of the Pinder Group, LLC; and Roger Campos, former executive at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and now the first President and CEO of the Minority Business RoundTable.

The emphasis on accomplished leaders and bipartisanship comes as the state's fiscal situation has been revealed to be more dire than previously thought.

  1. Was there anyone else elected? This news site only has Hogan news?

    1. Wrol, last time I checked Maryland has one governor serve at a time. Hogan was elected. For county political news, see my report about last night's County Council public hearing from early this morning.

He's the governor-elect. He can't cover what every delegate in the district is doing....

  3. So if it was a democrat then dyer would have no problem with several posts about the governor-elect in a couple days? Definitely fair and unbiased news.

    1. Wrol, how is it biased? 31 people were appointed - it's a fact, not an opinion.

    2. Editorial choice of coverage. No democrat news. Only republicans. I think that was his/her point.

  4. Erol, Larry Hogan won the election. There is no Democratic "co-governor" to report on. I write about what the all-Democratic County Council is up to quite frequently.

I get that. Sure. But your republican governor news I straight news items with no personal opinion. Your democratic council news is full of personal opinion kicked off by news that you dislike. We are just wondering if there is bias. Since you are adamant you are a strict news organization and people should treat and respect you as such.

    2. Dyer and I were just chatting at the last party meeting that we would use his blog as a vehicle for the party!

    3. Matt, I was not at a party meeting so you must be delusional.

    4. Hi Bob, yeah, I bought you a drink - you don't remember me? We were chatting a while. You were a little tipsy but fun. Not really an official party meeting but at the restaurant. Unofficial meet up.

Hogan is the biggest MoCo story. What impact will he have on the county? That's what we want to know and that's what Robert is reporting on.

He's doing all the right things so far by getting MoCo heavy hitters like Duncan on staff.

Don't worry, there is plenty of news coverage for the Democratic Party in the Washington Post...

Uh, the Washington Post covered this and without posting the same three photos of the guy in some apparent attempt to idolize him.
