BRUCE VARIETY VOTED BEST VARIETY STORE IN BETHESDA

Bruce Variety has been voted the Best Variety Store in Bethesda in Bethesda Magazine's 2015 Best of Bethesda reader poll. The results do not appear to have been posted online yet, but the news was delivered by owner Richard Dimock.

A haven for everything from clothes and Halloween costumes to sewing supplies and fabric, school necessities and things-you-didn't-know-you-needed, Bruce Variety has been an institution in the Bethesda community since 1953. Formerly in the Bradley Shopping Center, Bruce Variety is now located at 8011 Woodmont Avenue. There is public parking adjacent to the store.

Is bruces still open? Every time I try to go there they are closed, I went there earlier this week at 4:30 and they were closed as well as two weekends ago. I'm done with bruces. I gave them a fair shot with them moving to the new location but it just doesn't seem like the good old store it used to be.

Talk about tough competition...two-three other variety stores. I have been going to them off and on for about 15 years. I must say this place has gone downhill in the last two years. There have been numerous times where me or my friends and I have walked in and there is no one behind the counter or in the store to help me/us! Also, the people who work there in some instances have been rude.

Must be hard to sell knick-knacks nowadays with everything so much cheaper online. We need a good dollar store. Bruce variety, Bradley variety, party mania... Just too expensive given other options.

A quarter only got me like 15 minutes in the meter and went in to grab something quick but couldn't find any help. I ended up getting a ticket. Finally got some help from an older gentleman in the store and he was just rude. I will have to go somewhere else for now on. I'm not going to risk getting another ticket.

This place is a joke now, terrible selection and service compared to what is used to be.
