APPARENT ARCING INSULATOR INCIDENT SHUTS DOWN ONE TRACK AT BETHESDA METRO

Montgomery County firefighters responded to a report of an arcing insulator on the Metro Red Line near the Bethesda Metro station before 9:00 PM tonight. MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer confirms there is no fire currently, but power to the inbound track has been cut off so officials can investigate.

Metro Transit Police report no smoke on the platform, or in the tunnel.
