Two vehicles were broken into in the Ayrlawn neighborhood off Old Georgetown Road this past Wednesday. Several other thefts occurred in that area the previous day. If you live in that vicinity, make sure to lock your vehicle, and remove all valuables from the interior. Alert Montgomery County Police if you notice any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area.

Assault. 7500 block Old Georgetown Road.
Theft. 5600 block Wisconsin Avenue.
Vehicle burglary. 5800 block Walton Road (reported at 7:18 AM).
Vehicle burglary. 9500 block Ewing Drive (reported at 7:36 AM).
Theft. 6400 block Rockledge Drive.
Theft. 11400 block Rockville Pike (Pike District).
Drug arrest. Capital Beltway at I-270 spur.
Theft from vehicle. 5800 block Nicholson Lane (Pike District).

Not sure where these numbers come from, but there were 20-30 cars hit in Wyngate last week, including at least one raised on blocks so its wheels could be taken. Ask the police for the real stats.
ReplyDelete9:02: I wouldn't be surprised. They don't share all incidents or data with the public. Some crimes in the later, official report are not in the data. And, vice-versa, some crimes in the data don't show up in the report. The number of crimes you reference was definitely not reflected in the data feeds through April 9 incident data.
DeleteThose issues aside, the data remains very useful because I was still able to alert residents that there was a wave of thefts in that area. Which is the whole point of my crime reports.
