Kapnos Kouzina posts Coming Soon signage in Bethesda (Photos)

Kapnos Kouzina, the new concept from celebrity chef and restauranteur Mike Isabella, has posted Coming Soon signage in the windows of the Bethesda Row location. This was formerly the home of Vapiano at 4900 Hampden Lane.

In contrast to Isabella's existing Kapnos-branded locations, this venture will emphasize a more casual, homestyle ambiance. The menu will reflect that with rustic cuisine and dishes designed to be shared, according to the company website.

With the opening now expected for Fall 2015, expect work to begin on the transformation in the near future.

    They should have put the entrance closer to elm street. Between the Taylor entrance and the Vapiano entrance, it's a long glass block of no reason to go down that way except to that restaurant. So no reason for anyone to want to venture there for fun.

    Love good Greek food. That, with Italian, are Isabella's fortes, so it ought to be a smash success. 7:21: That's his Italian surname. LOL. If you see the guy, there is nothing androgynous or "metro" about him. [Insert Seinfeld Moment: "Not-that-there's-anything-wrong-with-that!"]

    Mike Isabella was the runner-up to molecular gastronomist Richard Blaise on Top Chef All Stars. Tough season. The man can cook. Wonder now who else from the high end of Top Chef besides Isabella and Bryan Voltaggio have eateries in the vicinity. Opa!

      Actually I'm quite fine with this. If the chains can pay the rent and stay in business vs an unleased space that is constantly in turnover and some local owner losing their shirt.

    Oh please - Kapnos is far less of a "chain" than Vapiano, plus the other two restaurants actually serve good food.

    Welp food chains are a slight improvement over another bank or home design store. Bethesda Row is intentionally generic and dull. I am starting to see why the Westbard folks don't want to be the next Bethesda Row.

    8:05: Every property owner has a say in the process. The developer is asking for more than what is allowed, and that's why there is a process.
