The venerable Eastham's Servicenter is going to have to find another new location in the near future. Duball, LLC has requested a Montgomery County demolition permit for the auto repair site at 4990 Fairmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Once that structure has been demolished, and a couple of years of construction pass, a 17-story luxury condo tower will rise in its place.
4990 Fairmont will house 71 condo units, ranging from one-to-three bedrooms. There will be 3000 SF of ground-level retail, and distinctive penthouse residences with access to private rooftop spaces separate from the common rooftop deck.
Depending how soon they get the permit and start, they could well remain on-schedule for the planned Q4 2015 groundbreaking. Delivery is expected in 2017.

Can't wait for this and other buildings. We need more people in downtown Bethesda to support the local economy.
ReplyDeleteHope easthams can find a new spot. They might have to move out of downtown Bethesda.
Oh man. I was hoping for a single story drive-thru bank.
ReplyDeleteI heard some of the permits in downtown Bethesda were being held up just so the entire place wouldn't be a construction zone. I'm not sure if that's true, but it seems like it may be logical for this one, given the big projects going on just down Fairmont.
