Soup Up installs signage at future Bethesda location (Photos)

Soup Up, a restaurant specializing in healthy soups coming to the Peripoint Building in downtown Bethesda, installed its permanent signage yesterday. The restaurant, an outgrowth of an existing soup vending business in the District, is scheduled to open this fall at the corner of Wilson Lane and Old Georgetown Road. Bang & Olufsen previously occupied this space.

Great concept/horrible location. You take your life in your hands accessing that building and there is no convenient parking nearby for anyone to pop in except those who work very nearby. I wish them well but don't have high hopes for its survival.

I concur. Great concept. Horrible location.

A bit hyperbolic but crossing is just an obstacle many don't want to do.

"Take your life in your hands" is a bit of an exaggeration, however that intersection is intimidating and takes a long time to cross on foot, especially if you don't plan your path carefully and wind up needing to cross three different streets. And there is virtually no parking available on the west side of Old Georgetown Road.

And then there is the problem of the ghosts of all those missing vacuum cleaners haunting that place.

I posted about this before. Who in the world is going to buy soup this time next year when it's 95 degrees? Who wants vegan, gluten free, organic soup? Prisoners. Next signage to be installed will say, "Going out of Business".

I don;t want to do some free advertisement, but the Belgian food cart at the Bethesda Farmers Market does the best soup I had in years!.
This is the yellow and red stand, the one that cooked paella and quiches, "Chez Josette" if I remember well...

Careful, dyer and others will accuse you of being a paid marketer!

But nothing wrong with sharing your favorites. I'll have to try them out. Thanks for the tip!

Glad you had a laugh but the places opening up around here are anything but. For more reasons than this food concept, this place is doomed for failure.

Guys, they can offer gazpacho in the summer.

6:44 -- Oh for heaven's sake, I have soup 3-4 nights a week, even in summer. It's not like i'm eating it outside in the 95 degree heat. I love the idea of a soup place.

But this is not the location to prosper in.

They should put one in Wildwood - with Chopt and the eventual Fish Taco. You know...some place with... parking.

To the people saying there is no parking - there is a country parking garage a 3-minute walk away on St. Elmo.

    Parking is not an issue.

Yes, but then you have to cross Old Georgetown Road to get to the restaurant. Poor location.
