Bethesda office building lobby demolished (Photos)

A demolition of the lobby in the office building at 7920 Norfolk Avenue in downtown Bethesda apparently is the start of a renovation there. Owned by powerhouse DC development firm Douglas Development, the office building is fully-leased except for one 2223 SF street level retail space.

Tenants include M&T Bank, CrossFit Bethesda, Alley Cat Allies and Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. The building appears to still be open, as I saw someone exit the lobby.

Oh very nice they are renovating. That lobby was horrendous!

Glad to hear they are fully leased upstairs. That one retail spot is a glaring hold though. (Those defending Greenhill, see it's not just him). It seems like a prime spot. But a froyo turned sushi spot was never going to cut it. Here's hoping something good and lasting goes in soon!

That space is immediately adjacent to the lobby, that may have been the reason it was allowed to remain vacant.

And the previous restaurant wasn't "froyo turned sushi spot", it was a froyo AND sushi spot. Very weird combination. Their sushi wasn't bad, but I can't fathom what the owners were thinking when they came up with that idea.

It actually started as just froyo. They added sushi later. Presumably as a way to drum up more business.

  4. After every demolishment or even a small renovation process, the aftermath is often the most grueling part. There is the need for furniture removal and also the removal of the debris. All those need efforts and manpower which become time-consuming but yet necessary to finish the whole course.
