DeleteI don't care if WTOP says it's best pizza. I don't believe it. The exterior and interior signage looks cheap and tacky. Maybe with their botched sign they should serve fish n chips instead. A Dublin " chipper " would be awesome.
I looked forward to them opening in Germantown, but was pretty disappointed by their pizza
ReplyDeleteMy sense is that it's focused on delivery and take out, so the interior isn't too relevant.
ReplyDeleteNow taking bets on which new Bethesda restaurant closes first: Paisano's or Soup Up.
ReplyDeletePaisano's has the benefit of other locations that can help fund the losses at the Bethesda location.
Soup Up has the advantage of a landlord giving them heavily discounted or no initial rent because that place was vacant and desperate for a tenant.

I recommend that people with heart conditions leave the Triangle, as it may be too much to bear for them.
If this place is expecting to get a significant amount of their business from eat-in or take-out, they're in trouble. That block is dead, especially now that Hard Times is gone. They probably have a better chance if they are going to be mostly delivery.

Dyer reported that Douglas bought the parking lot on that street, so more to come.
was here earlier around 230pm, was about 20 people waiting for food. ordered a pie and a sub, great food and the prices are great, especially for Bethesda. will def go back on tuesday for a calzone

Drove by there today at 12:30 didn't see a soul. Is there seating in there? It doesn't look like it from the street. It looks like a delivery place only and the front looks tacky as hell with their neon open sign, etc.

ReplyDeleteThere were three, now two restaurants on that block - Paisano's, Hard Times (closed) and Guardado's.
People who come to buy expensive cigars don't necessarily come for cheap carry-out pizza in the same trip.
There is NO good pizza in either MD or DC. Having been spoiled with some of the best Italian food in NYC, the fare that passes for pasta and pizza here is painfully awful. The best of Bethesda, indeed!
ReplyDeleteI agree that NYC food is better but Mia's and even Pizza da Marco are quite good. One reason is they both have legit pizza ovens. Not anything like Lombardi's or John or Totonos's but decent. This pizza place will likely not survive despite what some have said. The cigar store actually might help them cause the cigar lounge lets you bring in food.
