First look at new downtown Bethesda pedestrian walkway (Video/photos)

You've seen the bones of this pedestrian walkway coming together from its earliest stages here on this website. Now see the finished product, a new path between the Woodmont/Old Georgetown Road public parking garage and Fairmont Avenue. The path is right next to the new 7770 Norfolk luxury condo tower. It can also be used with the pedestrian plaza alongside the Bainbridge Bethesda apartments to reach St. Elmo Avenue more quickly.

You'll notice more of the accent and security lighting are in place, as well as some very nice landscaping along the way.

  1. How come the parking garage entrance awning is so low? It's like 7 feet maybe. It feels like a mistake

I agree. I'm 6'3" and I feel like if I might hit my head almost. Especially weird that they have plenty of space above. The awning is Barry higher than the door! Robert maybe you can use your pull and inform the county and developer how bad it is. Thanks!

Those overhead lights are blinding when they are on. Hopefully those will be dimmed.

That video looks like something from The Blair Witch Project.

Yeah it's not good. But I appreciate the update. Standard pics might have worked better here

Oh they didn't show up on my android phone earlier but I see them now. Thanks for the pics. The animated gif was hard to see what's going on.

Thanks Robert for the pictures! Although, I do agree with others - the video reminded me of the Blair Witch Project.

Cool, thanks for the update. Pics really do a good job of showing the space. The shaky cam not so much.

Yeah you can see the glare from the overhead lights on the metal panels. They definitely need to turn those down.

This will be great for the surrounding businesses now having direct access to the parking garage. Excellent improvement for the nighttime economy. Seems like Riemer's initiatives are working out.

Would love dimmer lighting -- but bright lights to keep crime down. You don't need shadowy niches for criminals to lurk.
