A Montgomery County salt truck, one of several working all through the night in Bethesda, broke down on Ridgefield Road near Westbard Avenue sometime before dawn this morning. This was just one of many vehicular casualties of the small snowstorm that passed through the area last night. Citizens are demanding answers today, following the County and state of Maryland's inept preparation and response to a relatively small weather event, made worse by said response (or lack thereof).
So how would you have prevented this truck from breaking down, if the people of MoCo had elected you instead of Hans Riemer?
ReplyDeleteMany trucks broken down?
ReplyDeleteI can't find evidence of any other trucks being broken down.
AND I think only one truck out of a few thousands is a pretty good rate.
I am not a fan of the Liberal county council but I think they do a pretty good job plowing.
7:21: By making sure our fleet was up-to-date prior to winter. 1 inch of snow doesn't cause a big truck like this to break down.
ReplyDeleteIf our County Council spent less time tilting at the windmills of national politics, and more time executing their main function of managing government, we might avoid these kinds of disasters.
7:30: I never said there were many trucks - I said many vehicles.
ReplyDeleteThere were about 100 trucks, not thousands. The crews do a good job, but they have to be given working equipment, and timely instructions before a storm hits. That's on the Council and Executive, not the drivers.
Dyer you are just an inane DOUCH! You pick the smallest pimple and pick at it until you have a gaping wound. How the hell can you call a snow shower a STORM, escapes me. This event last night was predicted to blow through the area in just a couple of hours, instead it hit exactly during RUSH HOUR, and lingered long enough to make all residents, and government agencies lives miserable. Much like you do to those who try to read your insipid crap. All government agencies in the DMV were caught by this shower with their pants down, resembling your daily appearance. GET A LIFE MOCO MORON!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe broken down truck is symbolic of MoCo's inadequate response to the snow.
ReplyDelete7:43: Your description of the storm perfectly makes my point. A snow shower, at the time when you would want to be most-prepared to act, and they blew it.
ReplyDeleteThese are the most basic responsibilities of government.Much like their fumble of the Bethesda Post Office search. It's amateur hour again. Have they apologized yet this morning?
I'm pretty sure the state and county had already said that pre-treating the roads would make absolutely no difference. The same thing happened in Virginia, except drivers on this side of the Potomac are hardier in winter weather and we didn't have nearly the chaos that NoVa experienced.
ReplyDeletePeople just need to take it easy and drive carefully.
If you hate this county so much, why do you live here?
ReplyDeleteI love MoCo, but hate our mediocre leadership right now.
Delete7:47: Well, I don't think many people are buying that claim about pre-treating. In fact, MoCo has been claiming they did pre-treat some roads. Why would they boast about it if it was useless?
ReplyDeleteA six-car "Pyle-up" in front of Pyle MS, and people sleeping on the Beltway overnight, sounds like chaos to me.
7:48: Who hates the County? Anyone who loves Montgomery County needs to speak up about our incompetent leadership. We have the most intelligent population in the world here, and our "leaders" are making us look like fools.
ReplyDeleteMayor Bowser just took full responsibility for DC's inadequate response.
ReplyDeleteMoCo leaders are hiding and blaming residents for not driving in snow correctly.
You can't make this stuff up!
I think we need to also point out the fault of MOCO residents in this debacle. If you drive a vulgar rear-wheel-drive car like a mercedes sedan, you had no business being out on the roads last night.
ReplyDeleteAll you did was waste fuel and destroy the environment spinning your tires and creating congestion that inconvenienced county residents who were thoughtful enough to drive vehicles suited to the weather conditions. Shame on you.
Are we sure the driver wasn't just discretly grabbing a latte at the Westbard Starbucks?
ReplyDeleteWe have the most intelligent population in the world here, and they chose not to elect Dyer.
ReplyDelete@ 8:01 AM - Well, I don't know what benighted Mercedes dealership you visited, but my Mercedes has a snow driving mode in which you can drive in reverse the entire time, with your windshield transformed into a rear view display, and it's just like having front wheel drive.
ReplyDelete"We have the most intelligent population in the world here, and they chose not to elect Dyer."
ReplyDeleteHahaha

Apparently, we've found the small, but loyal contingent of people who believe MoCo had good snow response last night. And they are all readers of Robert Dyer!
ReplyDeleteAgain, all the local areas screwed up, So...why shouldn't we make sure OUR local officials know it, know we know it, and acknowledge it.
ReplyDeleteI'd expect the same of the residents of the other jurisdictions.
I don't get this pre-treating thing. On the one hand, they say it wasn't worth doing since the road temperature was too cold. On the other hand, they said they did it. So, which is it? It was useful and they did it, or useless and they didn't do it? Sounds like they thought it was useless and did it anyway? I'm confused.
ReplyDeleteDyer and his shill keep missing the point, deliberately. NO ONE is saying that MoCo's response was perfect, just that EVERY OTHER JURISDICTION IN THE REGION experienced the exact same problems that we did.
ReplyDelete@9:32AM
ReplyDeleteThis is big a lie, that anyone enlightened by Dyer can easily see right through. Northern Virginia is perfect and has a perfect economy with full office buildings and has absolutely no problems.
The pictures of I-66, I-395, and every other major highway in Virginia in far worse shape than any in Montgomery County and the rumored 3-6 hour evening commutes in Arlington and Fairfax are clearly fabrications of Hans Riemer/MoCo machine.
It's a fact that Hans Reimer created the snow last night and the reckless driving and drivers of road-treatment trucks to stay home OBVIOUSLY to further sabotage the nighttime economy. Clearly you haven't been paying attention.
#NIGHTTIMEECONOMY #RIEMERSFAULT #MOCOMACHINE #DYER4PREZUDENT
every time I go to Northern Virginia I am completely stunned by the awesomeness of it all:
ReplyDelete- I like to go to Rosslyn or Tysons or Crystal City and pretend I can see thousands of people participating in nightlife and having fun, instead of office ghettos devoid of any human activity whatsoever as soon as the sun goes down
- When it snows I am amazed at how empty and clear the roads are when I close my eyes and the massive 3 hour traffic jams and pile-ups every half mile simply disappear
- I am absolutely blown away by the best economy on planet earth and how the office space is positively overflowing with tenants (as long as I ignore the 20% vacancy rate and pretend Crystal City doesn't exist). The economy is so superior that Exxon-Mobil, AOL, and Sprint all packed up and left with their thousands of their impoverished 6-figure employees, since they were not good enough to stay. In exchange they got a handful of bigshots from Hilton and Northrop Grumman AND HQ bragging rights over MD.
Now....this is BIG News!!!!
ReplyDelete@9:32 You say "just that EVERY OTHER JURISDICTION IN THE REGION experienced the exact same problems that we did"
ReplyDeleteExactly. Any resident of any of your "EVERY JURISDICTION IN THE REGION" should complain to their local officials. Montgomery County included.
More fun to come in the next few days. Should be lots to talk about.
