Bethesda construction update: Kapnos Kouzina (Photos)

Just a day after the sign and awning were installed at celebrity chef Mike Isabella's future Kapnos Kouzina at Bethesda Row, here's an early look at the interior transformation of the former Vapiano space.

No more live tree in the dining room, but the basic layout remains the same with the ramp, side bar, dining levels and open kitchen counter.

Kapnos is located at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Hampden Lane. The rustic Greek restaurant should open by spring, if not earlier.

      Hopefully they won't be as dim of a bulb as you are, in failing to understand this is one of the most anticipated restaurant openings of 2016.

    Facebook page shows they're taking applications for managers, chefs and other help. Usually means they're getting close.

    Mr. Dwyer also missed that ButtBurger is opening soon in Bethesda. ButtBurger is the better for you burger joint.

    After all the hoopla, I'm ready for it to open. I hope it thrives. We need places that stay open.

    Bethesda should turn itself into a dining destination. Have 6-month to 1 year leases on trendy retail to fill in the other spaces. Neighborhood bars, where people stop in to socialize and grab a drink or 2. Stick a few paps in front of the best places catching happy fun (maybe famous) people leaving.

    Just some random thoughts.

    Bethesda was always known as a dining destination in the past.
