Bethesda gas station demolished in one day (Photos)

Well, they certainly made short work of that. A demolition crew required only a few hours Thurday to obliterate the old BP gas station at the corner of Fairmont Avenue and Old Georgetown Road. Next up is the office building next door, as this site is cleared for the Cheval Bethesda luxury condo tower.

It will be fun watching the gas stations in Westbard disappear one by one.

Seven... six... five... four... three... two... one...

    I can't wait.

When you're only out and about at three o'clock in the morning, everything that happened during the daytime seems to have happened instantaneously.

    1. 7:29: I guess you missed my report on the police station groundbreaking from the other morning. You're still, as the old A&W ad said, "Dumass material all the way."

It'll take a lot longer than that to remove the gas tanks and deal with any environmental issues.

8:36 - I thought the tanks were already removed once the gas station closed? I remember the driveway being turned into gravel.... I could be wrong?

Hey Dyer, if you're gonna insult your readers, at least come up with new material, you used this one a week or so ago. You simpleton.

Quite right! Trolls aren't readers, just trolls. And just lying low just waiting to take their cheap, silly shot at you.

    Guess they feel threatened.

    Good.

What's wrong with having convenient gas stations to fill up the 17, 000 vehicles (and increasing) that travel around Westbard and River Road daily??? Wait till the Westbard Giant closes and we have to jam into an already crowded Bethesda Giant with garage parking. What a pain in the bum that will be, taking an hour or more to get a few things at the store. Oh, I think I got it, you don't live here either or you sell electric cars that nobody wants.

    @ 7:12 PM -

It's a good thing that Dyer never takes cheap, silly shots at people. His mature comments totally set the tone for the conversations here.

Oh goodness yes it's so nice to have a writer engage thoughtfully and constructively with readers!

@7:12 is probably Dyer's mom, commenting from the Kitchen on the first floor while he is busy in the basement recording more "internationally released" music

I don't understand why drivers in Westbard would buy gas at any stations other than the W or Valero. Why spend 30 cents a gallon more at a place that's just a few blocks away?
