Three mozzarella-stuffed meatballs are topped with garden basil, Pomodoro, and crispy prosciutto, and then sandwiched between rich brioche rolls.

ReplyDeleteThose look delightful. Anyone know if they are set up to allow pickup/takeaway service of their full menu?
ReplyDelete"sandwiched between rich brioche rolls"
ReplyDeleteI only see the bottom half of those rolls. What a rip-off.
They must have fed you as payment for endorsing their menu. City Perch has the worst service of any restaurant in the area. I have been three times, i.e. strikes and will never go their again. BTW, these look uncooked.
ReplyDeleteDyer's campaign was funded by restaurants and fast food joints. They have him in his pocket! No wonder he is pushing suburban developments with drive throughs and parking lots!
Delete"BTW, these look uncooked."
ReplyDeleteYou're assuming that they're not just plastic models.
Do you have to report free food on your 1040?
ReplyDeleteDo you folks complain to every restaurant critic that they get free food?
ReplyDeleteDyer is easily Bethesda's best known food critic.
Restaurant critics aren't supposed to get free food. And they are supposed to keep their identity secret as much as possible, when they are reviewing a restaurant.
ReplyDelete8:37AM - they have to complain about everything. They just want to insult Dyer, disagree with any position he takes, falsely attribute things to him that he didn't say or do. It's like an obsession for them. For a few, it's become a serious mental illness. And it's escalating. You can see it in their writing, especially over the past 12 months. Very sad.
ReplyDelete8:37AM (it's me, 9:02, again)- see what I mean? Here comes 8:53 (as predicted) who has to hone in on the word "critic" and race off to insult. Your question was not lost on most of us. Every critic/reviewer gets free food sometimes. Ask Tom Sietsema.
ReplyDeleteThey're just trying to create drama where none exists.
"They're just trying to create drama where none exists."
ReplyDeleteThank God we have Dyer's good example of never stooping to do that, to guide us.
Point proved again by 9:51
ReplyDelete"Here comes 8:53 (as predicted)"
ReplyDeleteLOL, who "predicted" that comment before it was posted?
"...who has to hone in on the word 'critic" and race off to insult"
First, the phrase you want is "home in", not "hone in". "Hone" means "to sharpen or smooth (with a whetstone)" or "to make more acute, intense, or effective".
Second, how is the word "critic" being taken out of context in any way?
Sad that the negative anonymous guy makes such a big deal about meatballs!
ReplyDeleteComment was predicted in comments on a different post, pointing out the predictability of comments.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct that the wrong word was used. Although, it was a typo, and not caught in spellcheck, it was indeed the wrong word. I apologize. Thank you for pointing it out; if I could edit, I would.
Rather than answering the question, you took it in another direction, and weren't correct in your statement. They aren't always in secret, and owners/chefs can even overload reviewers with dishes. Ask Tom. He takes questions on Wednesdays.
The idea of being an unknown, unseen restaurant critic hiding behind a menu in photos seems like an old pretentious idea.
ReplyDeleteFor example, a google search quickly brings up photos of any of the current NY Times restaurant critics.
9:02 is being a good mother. Protecting her son. It's all about family.
ReplyDelete@ 8:53/9:02 (Dyer?)
ReplyDeleteYou realize Dyer brings it upon himself right? His sometimes outlandish positions, long-winded incongruous rants, and really disturbing grudges would attract criticism from any rational person.
That said, he does provide really informative and prompt updates about happenings around Bethesda. That's the primary reason I (and I suspect 99.9% of other "readers") still come back to this site on a regular basis.
I concur.
Delete11:43 - do not dare to presume you know who I am. You don't. I will be more than happy to meet you and prove you wrong.
ReplyDeleteTime and public place.
This yummy troll food sure is a lot better than those crappy old meatballs.
ReplyDeletenom nom nom
11:59 AM I doubt the anonymous negative blogger will take you up on your offer to meet. He says he's often in the same public meetings as Robert Dyer but is too timid to speak to Dyer in person.
ReplyDeleteYou stalking this anonymous person to know that?
DeleteRegular readers know the "anonymous" negative blogger talks about being at meetings with Dyer in attendance.
DeleteHe can't confront Dyer in person, so he posts anonymously here.
So is this a paid advertisement or not? Why does Dyer refuse to be transparent about who he's beholden to?
ReplyDeleteThis is worse than developers having a councilmember in their pockets!!
DeleteCreepy troll is at it again...
ReplyDeleteThere be trolls here.
ReplyDeleteDoes Prince of Petworth have a stalker too?
If I were PoP, and Dyer dared to compare himself to me, I would troll Dyer, hard, too.
