They must have fed you as payment for endorsing their menu. City Perch has the worst service of any restaurant in the area. I have been three times, i.e. strikes and will never go their again. BTW, these look uncooked.

Restaurant critics aren't supposed to get free food. And they are supposed to keep their identity secret as much as possible, when they are reviewing a restaurant.
ReplyDelete8:37AM - they have to complain about everything. They just want to insult Dyer, disagree with any position he takes, falsely attribute things to him that he didn't say or do. It's like an obsession for them. For a few, it's become a serious mental illness. And it's escalating. You can see it in their writing, especially over the past 12 months. Very sad.

First, the phrase you want is "home in", not "hone in". "Hone" means "to sharpen or smooth (with a whetstone)" or "to make more acute, intense, or effective".
Second, how is the word "critic" being taken out of context in any way?
Sad that the negative anonymous guy makes such a big deal about meatballs!

ReplyDeleteYou are correct that the wrong word was used. Although, it was a typo, and not caught in spellcheck, it was indeed the wrong word. I apologize. Thank you for pointing it out; if I could edit, I would.
Rather than answering the question, you took it in another direction, and weren't correct in your statement. They aren't always in secret, and owners/chefs can even overload reviewers with dishes. Ask Tom. He takes questions on Wednesdays.
The idea of being an unknown, unseen restaurant critic hiding behind a menu in photos seems like an old pretentious idea.

ReplyDeleteYou realize Dyer brings it upon himself right? His sometimes outlandish positions, long-winded incongruous rants, and really disturbing grudges would attract criticism from any rational person.
That said, he does provide really informative and prompt updates about happenings around Bethesda. That's the primary reason I (and I suspect 99.9% of other "readers") still come back to this site on a regular basis.
