Word is that the Montgomery County Council could vote on the highly-controversial Westbard sector plan as soon as Tuesday, April 12. That runs counter to Council President Nancy Floreen's prediction last month that a final draft with the proposed changes would be received by the Council in "mid-April."
Is the vote being moved up to reduce the amount of time residents, the vast majority of whom strongly oppose the plan, have to pressure councilmembers to delay or change their vote? Stay tuned.
Hooray for our heroic MoCo snowplows! They cleared my street by midnight after the big snow stopped.
ReplyDeleteWhy is "April 12" not "mid-April"? What is the contradiction here?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that nearly two years of discussion are finally bearing fruit.
5:27: Because that was when the final plan was supposed to be finished, not when the actual vote was to be taken. It's certainly bearing fruit for the private developers. The residents will actually be paying for the redevelopment with higher taxes.

ReplyDelete5:42: You obviously haven't paid any attention to the discussion at the Westbard worksessions. Even George Leventhal admitted that new revenue from development doesn't cover the added cost of new services. They admitted they don't have the money for the Willett Branch. Who do you think will end up paying, as we are right now for the development in Germantown, Clarksburg, Olney, etc.? Wake up! The taxpayers will have to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteVery shrewd tactic by our failed elected leaders. I look forward to the overwhelming backlash which will be on full display this weekend for all the TV cameras to see. I'm making my signs tonight!!!
ReplyDeleteDyer deleted "pasty-white fanny".
ReplyDeleteDyer is such a prude. LOL
@ 5:48 AM - "I look forward to the overwhelming backlash which will be on full display this weekend for all the TV cameras to see."
ReplyDeleteIt will be the same 200 old white busybodies that we've seen at every other meeting on this subject.
Ageist.
DeleteAnd being disparaging of white people shows bias, too.
Where are the supposed hordes who support the overblown scheme approved by the Planning Board?
Funny how they've been largely missing in action since the process commenced.

ReplyDeleteYou're a low-life.
Insulting the citizens who actually live here and pay their huge tax bills religiously year after year and now we gotta deal with paid off politicians and developer buddies!!!
@ 7:02 AM - Are you suggesting that the owners of the land in question don't have huge tax bills and/or don't pay them?
ReplyDelete7:08 -not what was said. Are you really that dumb? Try remedial reading comprehension.
ReplyDelete@ 7:22 AM - so if you both pay "huge" tax bills, what makes you the Extra-Special Unique Snowflake?
ReplyDelete7:31 - so, you're purposely changing what was said to cause drama?
ReplyDeleteBut, if you really are that ignorant...Citizens.
Being Citizens (residents) makes them Extra-Special Unique Snowflakes.
Big difference between someone who lives in the area and someone who develops and runs.
What the heck is 7:57 going on about?
DeleteBoth have equal rights. Doesn't matter if the developer owner doesn't live there.
Bulldoze everything and return the area to its natural state it was in before developers arrived.
ReplyDeleteBack to changing words for insult and drama. Not falling for it. You're dismissed.
