Delay sought for review of Pooks Hill project

The developer of the project at the Bethesda Marriott hotel property is asking for a 30-day extension for Montgomery County Planning Board review of its site plan and a site plan amendment. Heather Dlhopolsky, attorney for the applicant, says in a letter to the planning department that revisions are being made to the project based on recommendations of the planning staff.

Staff is recommending approval of both extensions. The board is expected to take up the request at its June 30 meeting. A pair of luxury apartment towers will be added to the hotel site on Pooks Hill Road under the proposed plan.

1.5 miles walking distance to the Medical Center Metro station.

1.3 miles walking distance to the Grosvenor Metro stations, with very poor pedestrian access crossing the Beltway.

By the standard of "Smart Growth", these buildings would be more appropriate in Westbard, which is closer to the Metro.

Mr. Reamer told Bethesda residents that they can walk to two Metro stations from Westbard Avenue.
He ascertained that from what he saw out of a bus window during the Council's notorious Westbard bus adventure.

"The Council's notorious Westbard bus adventure"

"Notorious" to you and Dyer, but absolutely no one else.

9:20am it was embarrassing to the community. Reamer visits once, inside a bus, and later claims he saw two Metro stations within walking distance.
Either his staff messed up or he was lying.

    4. 7:58: None of the above fit smart growth standards, which assign high-density only to properties 1/3 to 1/2 mile from a rapid transit station. You really need to read up on smart growth.
