Redskins Store closes at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda (Photos)

Faster than a Darrell Green interception return for a touchdown, the Redskins Store has closed at Westfield Montgomery Mall. A burgundy band along the interior wall is the only clue that this was once a destination for Washington Redskins fans.

This is one of several perplexing closures at the mall recently. Sure, there have been disappointing seasons for the Skins too many years (although I remain a fan no matter how bad the record is any given year). But the team had an exciting season last year, has made some good additions for the upcoming season, and expectations are high. Not to mention that a poll of Native Americans recently sapped all the energy out of the New York-Dallas media conspiracy to strip the team of its name and history.

So, why would the Redskins Store close now? Bizarre. My only complaint was that the store was too small, and therefore couldn't carry the full spectrum of Redskins merchandise that is available.

  2. No real loss here. Until the team finally recognizes how terrible their name is and switches to something progressive, my husband and I will continue to exclusively support our beloved New England Patriots and Princeton Tigers.

It's gotta be difficult to get enough sales in the offseason. More and more it looks the future will be pop-up stores.

How many years was the store there?

    "New York-Dallas media conspiracy"

    Sounds like an anti-Semitic dog-whistle.

No, it sounds like rival football teams would like to see the name changed. The Giants and Cowboys.

    6:48 sounds like a conspiracy wack-a-doodle.

    1. 6:48: Yeah, not only a nutjob, but doesn't even know who the Redskins biggest rivals are. So when Red Sox fans bash the Yankees, they are being "anti-Semitic"? Nuts.

@ 7:10 - It's odd that you would say that, given that Robert Dyer was the first one to use the word "conspiracy".

Odd how? Sometimes words you use are because you've heard or read them recently. For me, I use "conspiracy" often, in both speech and writing. Many times physical abusers feel there's a conspiracy against them when their families seek help. They are never at fault, it's the hospital who called the police, the school that called CPS, or the family for "making them" abuse.
But in this case, your reply hints that you're acting like a conspiracy nut too.

One of the worst experiences of my life was pooping at a Redskins game.

@ 9:06 PM - Dyer sure is protective of his shill and Lenny Greenberg. LOL

@2:20 - Exactly the type of response we counsel victims to expect. Blame shifting.

  15. 2:22 PM The weird stalker man who posts here continue to validate that theory that he wants Dyer to himself. He continues to try and convince Robert that he, alone, is Robert's lone reader across his network of local sites (despite the fact that thousands read Dyer's content daily). Therefore he believes that he is essential and Dyer should engage with him.
    Weird stuff!
Do other local journalists have such rabid fans?

No comments for nearly three hours, then @ 2:20 PM comments... Dyer's shill responds 2 minutes, 9 minutes and 15 minutes later. What a nutcase.

A New York media conspiracy is one thing but one of those New York-Dallas media conspiracies is almost too much to handle.

    "the New York-Dallas media conspiracy"

This quote pretty much sums up this blog in a nutshell.

You're saying that a valid statement sums up this blog. I agree.

It's well known that the Dallas media and the Giants media use the Redskins name issues against them. That's what they do. Rivalry, ratings, and all. They work towards a common goal, or conspire. It may be stretching it a bit, but conspiracy works.
