Chuy's is coming to Federal Plaza (Photos)

Austin-based Tex-Mex chain Chuy's has leased the vacated Ruby Tuesday space at Federal Plaza in the Pike District. Construction is now underway inside and outside the future restaurant.

Like all Chuy's locations, this one will have a shrine to Elvis, and hubcaps and wooden fish hanging from the ceiling. It will also have the recipes taken from towns on both sides of the border, and emphasis on fresh ingredients, found in all of their restaurants.

Chuy's started in 1982, but only began to expand outside of the Lone Star State in 2009. The Rockville location is part of a planned expansion in the D.C. area. Get ready to order a Big As Yo Face burrito, pay further tribute to The King with the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo, and cool off with one of their signature cocktails.

The restaurant will be located at 12266 Rockville Pike.

Is this a new "night spot" in Montgomery County?

9:59AM, you must be new here.
Why should he keep links to a competing site? Really, that's a no-brainer.
Most everyone who reads here knows he doesn't allow links to it. Yet many continue to post the links.
Why? ---just to make him have to delete the post, so they can give him grief for deleting.
It's all about getting attention from the Dyer.

Do links to TWP or Washingtonian or anywhere else stay if they are relevant?

10:48am you're always so irrational. You obsess about one thing in a very unhealthy way and can't give it up.

Robert Dyer is the definition of irrational.

His fans who jump instantly to his defense do so obsessively.

We'll always remember where we were when the news broke that Caddies had new ownership. Like where I was when I heard Kennedy was shot and when I was told Elvis died.

He's required to report everything in Bethesda?

    Oooh...guessing game...I'll play...I guess that:
Maybe since you're asking about it he figures you already know.
Maybe if it's been reported elsewhere, he waits until he has additional info.
Maybe he doesn't like you and ignores you.

When did the Ruby Tuesday leave? My wife and I ate there not that long ago.....

They've been under construction for a while now, one imagines the lease was signed a while back.

    3. 8:02: You are correct - Chuy's was already lined up as the new tenant before Ruby Tuesday closed.

Yep, I heard about it here first. I don't get out Rockville Pike much.
I remember going to CompUSA in that shopping center :)

If you want Robert Dyer to link to your self-published blog, just contact Robert and work out buying an ad. Then you can see your blog on here all the time, as a paid ad. You can even put your own name on the ad since you like seeing it here on Dyer's site. But, you have to buy an ad! That's fair.

    @ 8:33 PM - Wouldn't Dyer's site be more accurately called a "self-published blog"?

Same can be said for Robert's news reporting. His straight posts are so good and the trolls don't find reason to give him crap.

    2. 5:42: I would be delighted to tell you about that other XYZ restaurant, as soon as they end their blackballing of media outlets. I've heard nothing from them, they have no media PR contacts, and I presume therefore they don't want to promote their restaurant to my large readership. There are consequences to media blackouts and businesses who make deals to only work with certain media outlets, which is A) I can't write about your restaurant if you provide no information about your restaurant, and B) I'm not going to be played by somebody who cuts a deal with one media outlet. Welcome to Media 101. The year is 2016.

@12:08 Did they really cut a deal with just one media outlet? I'd say more likely they're just incompetent when it comes to promotion. That's the same restaurant owner where a location in VA made news a few weeks ago because a waiter used some kind of slur to identify the guests, and it was noted on the check. I believe the owner's daughter was also involved and she got fired by her own father.

Take this as constructive criticism: if a business sucks at PR, then that doesn't mean your readers don't want to hear about the business. We'd still like to know, and I'm sure you can find something to report on it, even if it takes more digging than usual.

Yep,folks like Soup Up quickly go out of business because they don't know how to promote. Buying a Editor's Choice sticker doesn't mean much when all of your real soup reviews are negative.
