Peripoint Building seeking tenant in Bethesda (Photos)

The Peripoint Building at 5001 Wilson Lane has a vacant ground floor space after the closure of Soup Up. Now they are soliciting potential tenants with a new sign. That 1800 SF space has been used for retail as well; prior to Soup Up, the tenant was Bang + Olufsen.

Also it was a vacuum cleaner place for years before that.

I think Aden that is in a smaller space next door should move in. They got great reviews from the Washington Post, so then they could develop a fast-casual sit-down business also.

Another option would be a coffee place, if they can offer enough non-beverages to keep revenue up and drive people in.

I know people criticize the location due to lack of parking, but there is parking directly in front of it on Wilson Lane, as well as a big County garage across from Old Georgetown Road. That puts them on similar footing parking-wise as many other places in Bethesda.

Soup Up failed not due to location, but due to a poor menu (few options), high prices, and mediocre food.

In other restaurant news, I was at Montgomery Mall twice this week during the busy lunchtime, and Beefsteak really isn't seeing many customers come in. Compare it to places like Panda Cafe and Sarku which have a line down the pathway at the same time of day. Even "Burger Venue" (former Kraze Burger) was seeing more action than Beefsteak.

If they shut down, would this be the star chef's first restaurant to close?

IMHO this Peripoint building design is uglier than the Karr designs. Yikes.

Yes I totally agree! Crazy it's possible.

I actually like the Peripoint design better than Karr's NYC mural building and renderings for the fresh grill update. I like though how Karr opened up mid block Norfolk, even if it's a waxing center.

The NYC mural doesn't make any sense. Better than the mural on that random wall next to Bainbridge.

    1. Robert do you think it would be a good idea for Kabob Bazar to move there after closing in the Connor Building?

Sorry Elias, Robert doesn't have a tendency to follow up on things.

An art gallery/studio would be best use of the space, but I'm not sure about profitability.

One idea: Future Hans Reamer museum covering his life and times?
No accomplishments, so it'll be a stuffed dummy of Reamer in the corner and a Windows 2000 laptop scrolling old laudatory BethesdaNOW articles about Hans. Hans is Downtown Bethesda's shadow representative on the Council.

The purposeful misspellings of Riemer's name and various words is just as lame as #moron. Even more offensive is why you're doing it.
