The Crown Castle telecommunications tower in the 5200 block of River Road in Bethesda remained blacked-out last night. This was the second straight night the aircraft warning lights on the 850' tower failed to operate, and the fourth night in the last 21 months.
While most planes would not fly that low near the tower, we do have a high amount of helicopter traffic in Bethesda, primarily related to the military. A Notice to Airmen is supposed to be issued by the FAA during a tower light outage.
Dyer, could you please explain your previous claim that these failures are somehow related to the color of the lights - white vs. red?

ReplyDelete8:20: Simple - they had an unethical quid pro quo deal where the business can't answer questions from Robert Dyer in exchange for something not made public. Not what I'd call journalism, punk.

ReplyDeleteI'm 8:46AM. What is Fairmont Plaza? I haven't been south of Wildwood in months.
ReplyDeleteDyer, do you ever plan to explain your theory that white lights are somehow more failure prone than red lights, and caused the entire structure to go dark?
ReplyDelete7:01: I already did - the red lights never went out in forty years. The white flashers have now gone out multiple nights.
