Cosi closes at Bethesda Row (Photos)

Cosi has closed at Bethesda Row. And what a way to go. The restaurant was most recently in the news for being the place where a woman's wallet was swiped. But Cosi the chain has been in the bad-news pages of business sections this week, as well.

The day this Woodmont Avenue location closed, the Cosi company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in  federal court, after being unable to resolve a dispute over a collateral agreement with creditors. Twenty-eight other Cosi locations also closed nationwide this week.
If Cosi was your regular sandwich spot, I would recommend the BLT+A sandwich at the new Modern Market around the corner on Elm Street, or Panera Bread a block away on Wisconsin.

No reflexive blame for Hans Riemer and the MoCo Machine?

Why? It's a national bankruptcy. If it was only the BR location, then that would qualify only if they had nighttime hours.

If you read this blog regularly, you would notice that Dyer directly attributes practically every closing in Bethesda/Montgomery County to the "Hans Riemer" and "MoCo Machine" entities which 6:31 mentions, as well as the county's "moribund" economic conditions.

Conversely, the county/county pols never get any credit whatsoever for openings or expansions.

Most likely Dyer simply forgot to add the requisite sentence at the end of the article blaming them for the closure.

Panera blows. And if the rest of Modern Market's offerings are as lame as the five start coffee you touted, they blow too.

Nope 8:08 I've been reading for years, back when a post might get a comment or two.

As I said up there ^^. He didn't because it's a national bankruptcy. The entire national chain.
If it was just the Bethesda Row(or just MoCo) location he'd be all over Riemer.

Hey...this is one of those times he has an understandable method for his actions!
    haha

8;08 is right though. Dyer often blames the county. Even for national issues.

He does do that a lot but let's give him credit where credit is due for reporting the news as news. I like this Dyer.

Is Dyer going to thank Andrew Metcalfe for the hat tip?

Dyer got mentioned in Bethesda Magazine? Wow, I guess he's out celebrating now.
