The sidewalk on the Wisconsin Avenue side of the Solaire Bethesda luxury apartments officially reopened Monday. Unlike some construction sites in downtown Bethesda, a covered pedestrian walkway had kept this passage accessible during the lengthy construction period, but you'll notice the new sidewalk is now further back from the traffic on Wisconsin.
When it opens, the Solaire will have 139 apartments, and a True Food Kitchen restaurant on the ground floor. A fall delivery is expected. The Solaire is being developed by the Washington Property Company at 7100 Wisconsin, the former site of Eastham's Exxon.
Is this where the True Foods Kitchen is going?

Delete6:52: Because Riemer said through extensive, friendly local media coverage that government had no place in the liquor business - and then proceeded to flip-flop and endorse government control of liquor! That's why the term limits crusade is being led by several restaurant and bar owners in downtown Bethesda. Hans blew it.

ReplyDeleteA quick update - I just walked around the site about an hour ago, and they are now demoing the outer part of the old sidewalk in front of this. Then the new Bethesda streetscape standard sidewalk will be installed out to the curb.

ReplyDeleteThe sidewalk on Wisconsin stayed open because Wisconsin is a state road, and the state cares more about pedestrian access than the county.
