Boardwalk Burgers and Fries opens in Bethesda (Photos)

For a restaurant inspired by the boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland, it sure took Boardwalk Burgers and Fries a good long time to open a Bethesda location. But open they have, in the space previously held by Burger Venue and Kraze Burger in the Dining Terrace at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

Their menu offers signature burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and fries, along with options to build your own. Unique items include Sriracha and Truffle burgers. I don't recall seeing their Funnel Cake Fries on the menu board, though.

6:38 , Actually the string of "new shoppers" (ahem) that frequent the Mall, will have it being Iverson Deux in no time at all..

Interesting story with the Ocean City connection! I will try this place.

Is this actually the same company that owns Boardwalk Fries? If so, the fries should be quite good. Dyer review coming soon?

If this place doesn't have a connection to the original Boardwalk Fries then I give this place a few months. There is nothing unique about making a burger and fries at a mall. Next time I am there I will try it.

  7. 11:04/4:30: I believe the company started as Boardwalk Fries, and then changed the name to Boardwalk Burgers and Fries. A review is not out of the realm of possibility. I've been waiting a long time for them to open one here.

No shot this place is able to compete with City Burger on Wisconsin Ave next to Don Pollo

  10. 6:17: It won't have to. City Burger closed and was replaced with Pii Pizzeria a long time ago.

I'm pretty sure City Burger closed and was replaced by Fish Taco from the same owner.

Also it's spelled Pi Pizzeria dipstick. Maybe start to get some sleep instead of moonlighting as a fake journalist, Mr. Dumass.

Are we still on Shake Shack watch? When that comes, all others will fall.
Was Bobby Flay in his place recently? He was in Middletown with Today Show so assume he stopped by mall, DC and College Park stores

@7:55 I think Bobby Flay's at Montgomery Mall will be the next to go. The burgers are pretty good, but the location is what's not doing it for them.

On the other hand, their nearest drive-friendly competitor, Five Guys across from Home Depot, has a major change in traffic pattern. Somehow Home Depot was allowed to take over the side road leading to Five Guys, and there's now a gate there. It makes it a lot harder to visit 5 Guys. Not sure how HD was allowed to do that -- Dyer, any news on this? If was the owner of 5 Guys, I'd be furious about it.

Home Depot owns that entire center now I believe.

Burger Palace is very good. But the mall in general has gotten old and tired looking. Their location isn't great. That's true. Was there recently and it's very good

Taste of the OC Boardwalk, even through the winter. I love this concept.

  16. 7:42: Who cares? That's probably why you brought it up. Two things right next to each other changed. Great. Nobody gives a damn which one replaced which. Shut your damn mouth before somebody gives you a knuckle sandwich. And pick up Hans Riemer's dry cleaning, you sick piece of garbage coward.

Based on the strong recommendations of Roald, Skippy and Maloney Concrete, I can hardly wait to try this place!

Hoping to hear from I Miss Gifford's, too.

Back in the day, Roy Rogers or Hot Shoppes was the only option for a burger in Bethesda.

If Dyer didn't post a video review about it then he must have had to pay for his food
