For a restaurant inspired by the boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland, it sure took Boardwalk Burgers and Fries a good long time to open a Bethesda location. But open they have, in the space previously held by Burger Venue and Kraze Burger in the Dining Terrace at Westfield Montgomery Mall.
Their menu offers signature burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and fries, along with options to build your own. Unique items include Sriracha and Truffle burgers. I don't recall seeing their Funnel Cake Fries on the menu board, though.

6:38 , Actually the string of "new shoppers" (ahem) that frequent the Mall, will have it being Iverson Deux in no time at all..

ReplyDeleteInteresting story with the Ocean City connection! I will try this place.
ReplyDeleteIs this actually the same company that owns Boardwalk Fries? If so, the fries should be quite good. Dyer review coming soon?
ReplyDeleteIf this place doesn't have a connection to the original Boardwalk Fries then I give this place a few months. There is nothing unique about making a burger and fries at a mall. Next time I am there I will try it.
ReplyDelete11:04/4:30: I believe the company started as Boardwalk Fries, and then changed the name to Boardwalk Burgers and Fries. A review is not out of the realm of possibility. I've been waiting a long time for them to open one here.
ReplyDeleteBig, big news for burger & fries fans. Looking forward to this one!
ReplyDeleteNo shot this place is able to compete with City Burger on Wisconsin Ave next to Don Pollo
ReplyDelete6:17: It won't have to. City Burger closed and was replaced with Pii Pizzeria a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure City Burger closed and was replaced by Fish Taco from the same owner.
ReplyDeleteAlso it's spelled Pi Pizzeria dipstick. Maybe start to get some sleep instead of moonlighting as a fake journalist, Mr. Dumass.
ReplyDeleteAre we still on Shake Shack watch? When that comes, all others will fall.
ReplyDeleteWas Bobby Flay in his place recently? He was in Middletown with Today Show so assume he stopped by mall, DC and College Park stores
@7:55 I think Bobby Flay's at Montgomery Mall will be the next to go. The burgers are pretty good, but the location is what's not doing it for them.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, their nearest drive-friendly competitor, Five Guys across from Home Depot, has a major change in traffic pattern. Somehow Home Depot was allowed to take over the side road leading to Five Guys, and there's now a gate there. It makes it a lot harder to visit 5 Guys. Not sure how HD was allowed to do that -- Dyer, any news on this? If was the owner of 5 Guys, I'd be furious about it.
8:09: Is it because Home Depot owns the Five Guys space, that they can do what they want with the access?
DeleteHome Depot owns that entire center now I believe.
Delete9:41: That's what I was pretty sure was the case. Thanks for confirming. Or else we are both wrong...
DeleteBurger Palace is very good. But the mall in general has gotten old and tired looking. Their location isn't great. That's true. Was there recently and it's very good
DeleteTaste of the OC Boardwalk, even through the winter. I love this concept.
ReplyDelete7:42: Who cares? That's probably why you brought it up. Two things right next to each other changed. Great. Nobody gives a damn which one replaced which. Shut your damn mouth before somebody gives you a knuckle sandwich. And pick up Hans Riemer's dry cleaning, you sick piece of garbage coward.
ReplyDeleteBased on the strong recommendations of Roald, Skippy and Maloney Concrete, I can hardly wait to try this place!
ReplyDeleteHoping to hear from I Miss Gifford's, too.

@ 9:51 AM - It's "I remember Giffords", and he's sockpuppeting over on the Butcher's Alley article.
ReplyDelete9:51 and 10:04AM How is that different than YOU sockpuppeting here?
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for deleting my comment at 10:08, Robby. Another tombstone on your war against free speech. Jesus Christ, get a grip.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day, Roy Rogers or Hot Shoppes was the only option for a burger in Bethesda.
ReplyDeleteIf Dyer didn't post a video review about it then he must have had to pay for his food

Looking forward to the review!
ReplyDeleteDyer what is your mom's favorite burger?
ReplyDelete"I remember Giffords" needs to change his name to "I forgot Little Tavern".
ReplyDelete11:33AM You love him. Blatantly obvious. I'm sorry if he doesn't love you back, but sometimes that's life.
ReplyDelete11:33am keep that up and you'll get a job offer from the Council
ReplyDelete@128 maybe Dyer should do that so he can finally move out of his mom's basement
ReplyDelete1:59 Picking up the councilman's dry cleaning and waxing his car is good work if you can find it!
DeleteBring on the burgers! Compare Fries with thrashers is a great idea.
