Bethesda construction update: True Food Kitchen (Photos)
True Food Kitchen has posted a sign with the grand opening date and time for the health-oriented restaurant. There's also a menu on display. It appears they will be doing an extensive amount of training, because the dining room looks just about finished, and they've actually already passed their Montgomery County pre-opening environmental inspection. True Food Kitchen is in the ground floor of the new Solaire Bethesda apartments, located at 7077 Woodmont Avenue.
This is exciting! With Q, Bibibop, and True Food Kitchen, it's great to see the growth of the Bethesda nightlife/dining scene! Great job Hans!
ReplyDelete7:20: These are restaurants, not bars. Hans had nothing to do with them opening. There have been restaurants in Bethesda before 2010, if you hadn't noticed.
ReplyDeleteRobert, if you count every restaurant closing as a knock on Riemer, wouldn't it make sense go give him credit for the restaurants that open too? Why do you selectively reference Riemer and the Council only when it's negative? I see a trending bias here.
ReplyDeleteBars, Riff, bars. Not restaurants. Nighttime economy. Bars and nightclubs. 10 have closed since Riemer's failed nighttime economy initiative.
ReplyDeleteRobert, I would assume both Q and True Food Kitchen have bars as well? Also, since 2010 I know Brickside, Gringos, Tapp'd, New Tommy Joes (previously Roof & Urban Heights), that Tappas bar by Bold Bite, Barrel and Crow, Vino Volo have all opened in Bethesda alone. Mia's pizza place was also just converted into Alatri Bros, which now has a much larger and more prominent bar area. This is also before you even take the whole Pike & Rose area into account. It's quite obvious you have a personal vendetta against Hans Riemer, but if you're going to count total closures, you need to count openings as well.
ReplyDeleteI also can't think of any bars that don't combine some sort of restaurant function in Bethesda, so clearly you're cherry picking to suit the agenda and "news" stories you want to write blog posts about.
7:41: Riff, you just mentioned a bunch of restaurants. We're talking about nightspots. Tommy Joe's moved. Brickside is new. Tapp'd specifically said they weren't trying to be a nightclub like Union Jack's was, but I don't have a problem counting it as a bar. It's still a net loss for bars/nightclubs with 10 closing.
ReplyDelete#Facts
Bethesda doesn't need "clubs" They need more places like Brickside and Gringos.
ReplyDelete#facts
Robert,
ReplyDeleteIn that case, can you let us know what type of nightspots/bars you'd like to see in Bethesda? I think the more affluent crowd would prefer late night bars/lounges to dance clubs. Can you let us know some examples of what you'd like to have here?
"give him credit... I see a trending bias here"
ReplyDeleteRiff:
I've been reading this blog for years, and Dyer has never, ever, EVER said a positive word about Riemer or the county council, but he has nothing but nothing but plaudits for Republicans, conservatives, and alt-right extremists. He especially denigrates Riemer for every single county failure and misstep, many of which he has absolutely nothing to do with.
I'm not a huge fan of the county council either, but this goes far beyond objective and constructive criticism. For Dyer, it's a personal grudge.
What's really amazing is that Dyer firmly maintains that this is an "unbiased local news" site. At least slanted sites like Breitbart admit what they are.
8:09: I've been saying for many years we could use some upscale, Las Vegas-style nightclubs. Places with a dress code and a line out front. Maybe everybody doesn't get in. Some energy out on the sidewalk, instead of dark and quiet streets downtown after 10 PM.
ReplyDelete8:18: Riemer has been directly involved with every single issue, and has put himself front and center with big PR campaigns through obsequious media outlets on each issue, that I have criticized him on.
"What's really amazing," is that you confuse a non-obsequious news site like this with a "personal grudge."
These increasingly wacky comments in the last few days suggest the MoCo cartel is panicking about my potential victory, if I chose to run in 2018 for Council.
I agree with 8:18. Spot on. Dyer is more personal and biased. However, I know that when I come here. When I want neutral, I know where to go. He reports things not to inform, but to drive his own point of view.
ReplyDelete8:52: Wrong! Every article on here is meant entirely to inform. Many of the topics would otherwise go uncovered. Other media outlets have a bias in favor of the County political machine, but you don't criticize them because your bosses on the Council wouldn't like that.
ReplyDeleteThis site is as close to neutral as MoCo news gets.
Dyer, what Vegas-style nightclubs with dress codes and lines out front have you been to?
ReplyDeleteGood heavens, let's get real. Just because Dyer is not wearing the rose colored glasses of other local writers, that doesn't make him biased.
ReplyDeleteRobert, learn to listen to people. Stop being so stubborn and defensive. Criticism isn't meant to tear you down but you tear everyone who criticizes you. CHILL OUT!
ReplyDeleteYou are wrong. Even when you "inform," you bungle it by peppering in lots of opinion and unhelpful, hot air-type commentary.
Dyernomics works like this: If a bar or restaurant opens, it's not because of Riemer or the council.
ReplyDeleteIf a bar or restaurant closes, it's always Riemer's fault, and the Council too.
Get with the program people!
Would Robert Dyer even be allowed in "an upscale place with a dress code and a line out front"? LOL
ReplyDelete"These increasingly wacky comments in the last few days suggest the MoCo cartel is panicking about my potential victory, if I chose to run in 2018 for Council."
ReplyDeleteOh, this reminds me (I'm "8:18 am") that I forgot to mention that any remotely critical comment is immediately attacked as being from a member of the supposed "MoCo cartel"
No offense to Dyer, but I seriously doubt the current county council members are concerned about his candidacy, based purely on his policy positions and the county's political demographics, not to mention his moral character and behavior on this blog. He would have a better go of it in some rural county in Arkansas.
"This site is as close to neutral as MoCo news gets"
ReplyDeleteThis is a bald-faced lie.
Why does the Council always take credit for success, but never responsibility for failure?
ReplyDeleteIt's always someone else's fault. (Plenty of disasters like SS Transit Center)
I think Dyer is just being fair.
The most obvious sign that Robert has issues with criticism is that you have to preface a comment that is even slightly critical or poses a tough question with "this is not a trolling comment. I am not trying to troll. I have a legitimate question." Then, Dyer responds without answering the question and says "I DIDN'T SAY THAT. WHY ARE YOU EVEN ASKING THAT?"
ReplyDeleteRobert Dyer is rude but I get some updates about food and drink here but I could do without the political rants and personal grudges. Lord knows the blog would be far more successful but maybe he doesn't care. It's his to do what he wants.
For every one slightly critical or skeptical comment from Dyer about Reimer here, there are 4 other local bloggers praising him 100% on a regular basis.

Push your view too hard and he'll proclaim that "everyone is applauding" him "body-slamming you through the coffee table."
ReplyDeleteI still say that's a pretty violent threat against someone for giving their honest and intelligent view on an issue.
12:12 PM Act like a child and you'll probably be treated as such.
ReplyDelete1:10AM Well aren't you just the cutest little thing! You sound just like a mom! That's being treated like a child? Hey, that might be ok to you, but we don't body-slam kids through coffee tables at our house.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for a venue for a small event in this area, you may want to stop by and check it out. The staff at LA event venues is very friendly and the food is great. We preferred this place because they are all-inclusive, so you don't have to worry about chairs and catering because it's all part of the package.
