Haagen-Dazs temporarily closes for renovations at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda (Photo)

UPDATE: Haagen-Dazs is open again at the mall

Haagen-Dazs has closed at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda for renovations. UPDATE: It initially appeared the store had closed pemanently the day this picture was taken, but the store owner informed me the closure was only temporary for the remodeling. Haagen-Dazs is now open again.

When's the Mall itself closing? Geez! Even Wheaton Plaza doesn't have this many closures. Unreal!

These are the shops and restaurants that have closed just since January 1, 2017, per Robert Dyer's own reports, starting with the most recent:

    Haagen-Dazs
    Noodles & Company
    Stride Rite
    Marbles: the brain store
    Yum Crepes
    Smart Toys
    Peet's Coffee
    Radio Shack
    Core
    Sheepskin (seasonal)
    Alpaca Too (seasonal)
    Chocolate Moonshine
    American Apparel
    Bistro Sensations
    Best Buy Mobile
    Freddy
    Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria
    Fashion Time
    American Classic Clothes
    Icebreaker
    Wetzel'd Pretzels
    The Limited

That's 22 in all. Robert Dyer reports on the trees but not on the forest.

You forgot MET on movie theater level. That place was simply awful.

The list @ 7:51 was just shops and restaurants that have closed in 2017. MET closed in 2016.

7:51 here - I made an error in the list - Sheepskin and Alpaca Too was one store, not two. But with the closure of bebe, the count remains the same.

  4. 2:08: If that is true, why is there no sign informing customers that they are remodeling?

What's the deal with Sears? I heard a rumor that Westfield bought it for 72 million. Any truth to this rumor?

That's what they invented Google for: http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/news/2017/04/27/struggling-sears-sells-its-westfield-montgomery.html

"2:08: If that is true, why is there no sign informing customers that they are remodeling?"

they did have a sign up saying they were closing for remodeling on the counter when they were still open.

The mall probably won't let the franchise owner put a sign up. They usually require these expensive graphics that are not worth it if you are going to be closed for a very short period of time. Just my guess.

But I am 100% positive that they are closed for remodel
