2016 U.S. Senate candidate Donna Edwards |
Now a new book, Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign, reports that Van Hollen pressed Maryland labor union officials to limit their mobilization of African-American voters in the 2016 Democratic primary. When presidential candidate Hillary Clinton got wind of Van Hollen's plan, she grew enraged, asking staffers, "Who gives a f*** about Chris Van Hollen?" authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes write.
Edwards lost to Van Hollen, but bested him among black voters.

Given that reporting what is in a book isn't "plagiarism," I have to assume you're compiling a list of descriptives that apply to the small and slightly-failing magazine - which I scooped on this major story.
DeleteHere is the story in context, detailing how Van Hollen actively sought the support of African-American Marylanders.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bs-md-van-hollen-shattered-20170418-story.html
Published a day ago, in the old legacy print media.
11:04: "In context" = Spun with lies in close consultation with Chris "Don't mobilize black voters!" Van Hollen's office.
DeleteThis Hillary Clinton quote is the best burn since Lloyd Bentsen, in a Maryland context. Van Hollen is the Hans Riemer of Capitol Hill!
#HelplessHans
How did we get from Clinton to Van Hollen to Bentsen to Riemer?
DeleteMore free association from Dyer...
1:03: Very easily - it appears they have very similar status among the power brokers in their party. Riemer's laughable special orders bill was praised to high heaven by a few allies in the press and MoCo cartel. But when it got to Annapolis, his own party leaders promptly tore it up, and threw it in the garbage.
DeleteLots of similar praise for VH here, but then the most powerful Democrat of all bodyslams him for his selfish voter suppression plan that would have hurt her own campaign. Both men have crazy ideas quickly dismissed by their superiors, and are both ridiculously overrated.
Robert, did you read the whole 500 page book already? If so that's impressive, if not you have no business writing article about it yet. You sure do love to sensationalize and invent conspiracy theories and diabolical plots of evil cartels...
ReplyDelete11:14: Hillary Clinton is part of a "diabolical plot?" Tell me more! Keep up that talk, "Riff," and you may find yourself moved to the kids' table at the next Democratic Party dinner.
DeleteThe same Council that wants to pave over an historic African American cemetery and build a parking garage....
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what these people will do for $ and personal political power.
11:21 is a Westbard NIMBY troll
ReplyDelete11:27: No, the County Council has established a pattern of institutional racism, along with their hand-picked Planning Board and the Planning Department.
DeleteThe Council is not only fully complicit in the cemetery debacle, but have also declined to discipline, chastise, or denounce the PB and Planning for the racist and disrespectful way they've treated the members and leaders of Macedonia Baptist Church. I've never seen anything like it in Montgomery County.
We certainly can't normalize this criminal County Council, complicit in institutional racism, and criminally on the take.

HAH! Robert, what do you have against van Hollen? He's actually the most competent politician in this state, and has done more for Maryland than most anyone else. If you want to attack a known political hack, go after Delaney or Raskin. The funny thing is, van Hollen is one of the few shining lights in an otherwise dim democratic national field. I honestly think you just hate everyone who holds office.
ReplyDelete12:25: Nothing personal against Van Hollen. I think Delaney has done more to try and advance infrastructure, whereas Van Hollen left us high and dry when he should have been protecting us with the impact of BRAC.
DeleteHe had so little power, that he could not negotiate direct Beltway access into Walter Reed, and instead, taxpayers were slammed with a handful of "let's look busy" road tinkering and pedestrian tunnel fiascos. All utterly failed, one of the biggest wastes of taxpayer funds of all time.
I can't think of one major piece of legislation he got through that will be in the history books. It appears that national Democrats don't share the idea that sitting in front of a player piano during the absurd, horrible presidency of George W. Bush makes you Van Cliburn.
Race aside, Van Hollen was far, far more qualified than Edwards was.
ReplyDeleteDyer, do you actually have the book in your hands? If not, then how did you become aware of those quotes in it?
ReplyDelete#Plagiarism
1:06: The book is widely available. I understand you've been busy the last two days on whatever nefarious task the MoCo cartel assigned you, as the large quiet periods of no troll comments prove.
DeleteYour claim of plagiarism as everyone is reading and reporting on a major book release makes you sound like a complete idiot, or Governor Cuomo. Same thing.
Sure, the book is "widely available". But it's an odd coiincidence that you managed to find that one passage in the book the day after both The Post and The Sun reported on it.
Delete7:41: You figured a guy who was on the Dean's List every semester in college wouldn't be able to read an even lower reading level book as quick as all the other reporters jabbering about it?

"a guy who was on the Dean's List every semester in college"
DeleteDoesn't mean a whole lot (assuming it is even true) given that your major was laughably easy and that since you left college, your life has gone nowhere.
Van Hollen is a liberal moron
ReplyDelete@ 4:43 - "THE Blacks." Didn't you get the memo?
ReplyDeleteRobert Dyer: Did you support any of those black Senate candidates that you are critical of the "MoCo Cartel" for not supporting? Are you then as guilty as they or are you part of the cartel itself?
ReplyDelete8:41: I not only supported a black U.S. Senate candidate, but also marched alongside him at the Taste of Bethesda in 2006.
Delete"Are you part of the cartel?"
Argle bargle.
10:14: There's a reason it says "Cum Laude" on my diploma, idiot. Think, McFly, think.
ReplyDeleteOnly an uneducated hobo like you would consider History to be "laughably easy." You're sitting behind a keyboard typing childish, cowardly anonymous comments at all hours of the day in exchange for chump change and a cheap apartment provided by the MoCo cartel - and you're telling me MY life has gone nowhere? Please.
At least I have a record of accomplishments in getting things done in Montgomery County, unlike your bosses.
2:12, you do live in your mom's basement still...that' a bit odd, and it literally means, you've gone nowhere since high school.
ReplyDelete4:55am has hit the big time as a paid troll. At least, I hope he's being paid!
ReplyDeleteRecycling those old insults for years.
4:55: I don't live in anybody's basement, moron. For a dumpster-diving hobo holed up in an old apartment provided for you by the MoCo cartel, you're one to talk about "going nowhere."
ReplyDeleteif not your mom's basement, then probably still the bedroom next to hers? Still got your Megadeth poster on the wall?
ReplyDeleteA book excerpt has been on Amazon for awhile now from the Kindle version which is, obviously, available.
ReplyDeleteRecycling is good. The three R's - reduce, reuse and recycle. Why throw away things that are still perfectly good?
6:48: I've never owned a Megadeth poster, moron.
ReplyDeleteIf not Megadeth, maybe Slayer? Or are you more of a Creed/Nickleback fan?
ReplyDeleteOMG....you touched the Alt-Left nerve. Gee...how could one of their bleeding hart libs suppress attempted for Backs to vote in the election.
ReplyDeleteWake up and smell the coffee Alt-Left.....you are no better than us.
LOL in your face!
And what, pray tell, has your fearless leader Orangina done for you or any of us to date, except make a complete embarrassment of the U.S.? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. PERIOD I'll take Hillary any day over the circus of clowns Drumpf has presented and you seem to sniff their ripe butt-holes.
ReplyDeletebahhahahahaha! Not only does Dyer's mom pay his rent, she paid for his fancy private high school tuition as well?
ReplyDeleteDyer's troll has a worn, tattered print out from a 10 year old Gazette voters guide that he clings to.
ReplyDeleteWhy not use Dyer's current info... He has a wonderful "About Us" page on this site.
7:14AM - The current page doesn't give his educational background.
ReplyDeleteIs it still is true?
Scrutinize the interns from Bumfuck U. at Bethesda Magazine a bit while you're researching education backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteDyer is very active on multiple social platforms, a community activist and well known.
ReplyDeleteWe know so little about other local journalists. Maybe they can write an "about me" as well?
I'm sure their readers would love to know where they go to school, their home addresses, who their parents are, how much rent they pay, etc. Critical info for readers to know!
The other local journalists don't claim they are the be all end all, so meh, who cares.
ReplyDeleteOther (aka real) journalists don't have nut-job conspiracy theories, biased jealousy that shows up as hatred, and berate their readers like Dyer. If he could stick to facts, people wouldn't hassle him as much.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Magazine/About-Us/Meet-Editor-and-Publisher-Steve-Hull/
ReplyDeleteStill not seeing names, addresses, social security #'s and resumes of other local journalists or anything about their parents and what their salaries are. How much do they pay in rent?
ReplyDeleteApparently those are requisite details, so please share that as well.
Thanks!
8:25 AM believes Dyer isn't a "real" journalist. Problem is, there's no journalism license or badge.
ReplyDeleteMaybe "amateur" journalist or blogger or "failed politician" is a better title for Robert. Last I checked professional journalists get paid. They also respond professionally to their readers.
ReplyDelete9:57 AM So, the anonymous man with no sense of professionalism is complaining about professionalism.
ReplyDeleteJournalists are not defined by their salaries. True, Dyer doesn't work for a legacy media entity...so what?
It seems the man @9:57 AM will only offer ad hominem attacks on Dyer but no facts.
ReplyDelete10:04 AM, the person commenting at 9:57 AM isn't purporting to be any type of professional, unlike Mr. Dyer. Now go crawl back into your shill-hole in dyer's mom's basement's sub-basement.
ReplyDelete10:12 AM Ad hominem attacks from local bloggers against Dyer make them more "professional"?
ReplyDelete10:45am, the attacks on Dyer are getting tiresome. However, I've seen no proof that any of these attacks are from other "local bloggers" most of them are anonymous commentators. They're just as likely to be bored desk jockeys as they are to be local bloggers. Who knows, maybe Dyer is trolling himself to drive traffic?
ReplyDelete10:45: Dyer's conspiracy theories notwithstanding, no one here is a professional blog commentator.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteFrom his own website:
Delete"Robert Dyer is the founder and publisher of Suburban News Network, which currently includes 3 local blogs" - read as blogger
"Robert is also an internationally-distributed recording artist, whose music is available on iTunes, Spotify and other major websites." - self published
@ 11:39 AM - next time use a non-breaking space in the phrase "Cum Laude". "You owe me a monitor", as they used to say back in the day.
DeleteIf I comment on a YouTube video, whether it be music, history or cats, does that make me "internationally published", too?
ReplyDeleteDyer is a community activist, publisher of Suburban News Network and a musician/recording artist.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the debate about?
Dyer is well known and established. Yet, we still don't know anything about other local journalists.
I guess a blogger could be called a publisher. And a self recorded musician a recording artist.
Delete4:21: An independent record label release is not "self-published," you moron. You're obviously quite resentful of my record of accomplishments.
DeleteWhat's the label name?
Delete5:50 PM -
ReplyDelete"Is it an animal, vegetable or mineral?"
"Is it bigger or smaller than a breadbox?"
It's a label of self-published artists.
ReplyDeleteHow old is Dyer?
ReplyDeleteBoomer? GenX? GenY/Millennial?
He's over 20 so def not an iGen
When some of you come here and attack Robert for personal reasons, you're making yourselves look stupid. Just quit it already. If you have a problem with something he writes, just stick to that and back it up with evidence and a proper justification. Making fun of someone's age or race or college degree is extremely stupid.
ReplyDelete5:10: Wrong. You know nothing about the music business other than your passion for Justin Bieber.
ReplyDeleteFrom 5:10AM
ReplyDeleteYou could just say I was wrong. No need to insult me over an innocent comment.
I do know about the music business. I've been involved in it since 1975.
6:09: So where is your discography?
DeleteWhy would you think I am making fun of him by asking his age? I tried to give you my reasoning by listing the generational groups.
ReplyDeleteSomeone's age most definitely can influence their views and positions on issues.
That is why I asked his age.
Sometimes a question is just a question.
5:39 The problem is IF I comment on the issue, a genuine comment in hope of an open and intelligent discussion, I'm insulted and threatened.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your advice?
How can I openly discuss a differing view on an issue without being called an idiot or moron, or being told I'll have to sit at the kiddie table at the DNC dinner.
Looking forward to hearing your ideas.
Would love to see hidden camera footage of other top national Democrats expressing their true feelings about Van Hollen. The golden boy ain't so golden outside the protected confines of MoCo, it turns out.
ReplyDeleteDyer's post at 12:53 was comment #69. Harr harr harr
ReplyDelete#dodgingdyer
ReplyDeleteWhy won't he tell anyone the label name?
@4:36 probably because the label name is the Suburban News Netowrk
ReplyDelete12:49PM - Why the attitude? I've been in the music business since 1975. No discography. What's it to you?
ReplyDeleteiTunes says Jagu Records. No real search results in Google.
ReplyDelete#FakeLabel
ReplyDeleteImagine if folks spent the same amount of time scrutinizing our lawless County Council as they are analyzing Dyer's rock album.
ReplyDeleteJoin Dyer in actually practicing journalism. It's never too late!
6:47: If you don't have a discography, you're not in the music business.
ReplyDelete6:48: There are a lot of indie labels that no longer exist that you won't find in Google. You're talking about a record that came out almost 20 years ago.
9:27: #FakeNews
10:17: Hans Riemer has been elected twice with no media scrutiny of his fictional biography, and massive out-of-state funding from Wall Street crooks and their K Street lobbyists. Most recently, no exposes on his coverup of illegal activity in the DLC until after election day, and gross violation of the open data law.
Ok. Got it. No discography means not in music business.
DeleteOh wow your album was 20 years ago?
10:17 complains about scrutiny and his hero Robert spouts conspiracy theory left and right.
What's "fictional" about Hans Riemer's biography? As opposed to your own?
Delete3:58: It's not a "theory" when you have proof.
ReplyDeleteYour "proof" being so good that the FBI, police, whatever investigative units have never pursued it and no one has ever prosecuted it. The "proof" is just that good.
Delete@4:47, how many tinfoil hats do you own?
ReplyDelete3:29AM - Still attitude? You accused me and called me a liar?
ReplyDeleteImagine if I had said more than:
"It's a label of self-published artists."
What part of "business" in music business don't you understand? There's more to the business than just being an artist.
I did some work with Dick Freeland and Rebel Records, as an example. It ain't nothin'.
@10:10 If it had any truth, or proof, it would have been a career-defining story.
ReplyDeleteA single album, released in the previous millennium, that no one ever heard of, is not exactly a "career" as an "internationally published recording artist".
ReplyDelete"Most recently, no exposes on his coverup of illegal activity in the DLC until after election day"
ReplyDeleteThree dudes drinking pilfered beer on the job /= "The Next Watergate".
6:54: No tinfoil hat needed when the proof is available.
ReplyDelete10:10: The FBI hasn't even investigated it yet.
7:29: It's not "a label of self-published artists."
10:55: I've done more than just record a solo album.
12:48: Wrong! There was more criminal activity than the beer drinking.
2:34: I've never made any false claims. I've been a professional musician and recording artist, but never claimed to have sold a million records. I've never claimed to have any important or powerful jobs, or inflated my resume.
Hans Riemer, by contrast, claimed responsibility for Obama's youth vote victory, and said that he was the Youth Director for Obama when he won in 2008. Rumor has it that Riemer was actually let go from that job before Obama had even defeated Clinton in the primary.
He also claimed to have saved Social Security from George W. Bush at AARP. Go back to 2010 and 2014 when he repeatedly made both claims.
Dyer, Riemer never claimed to have done that single-handedly. Here is what he actually said:
Delete"Hans was a senior advisor for AARP before joining the County Council, an organization that he has worked closely with throughout his career. A nationally recognized leader on Social Security, Hans played a pivotal role organizing the Democratic coalition that stopped President Bush from privatizing Social Security. Tom Matzzie, of MoveOn.org, called Hans “one of five people in the country most responsible for protecting Social Security from George Bush.”"
7:54PM - Ok, big professional music man---so you believe me now. Lemme contain my enthusiasm.
ReplyDeleteSay why I'm wrong instead of ripping on someone who just might know more than you do on a thing or 2.
No one knows more than Robert Dier!!
