Guardians of the Galaxy cocktails, merchandise at ArcLight Cinemas Bethesda (Photos)

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 opened to big box office results over the weekend, and ArcLight Cinemas at Westfield Montgomery Mall has some special items to add to the movie-going experience. Two special Guardians of the Galaxy-themed cocktails are available at the bar in the lobby: Angry Little Tree, with Stoli Blueberry, black raspberry liqueur, lemon juice and Sprite is inspired by the pint-sized Groot. Or enjoy the movie with a Relax Drax cocktail, featuring Cruzan aged rum, Mt. Gay rum, Campari, and lime and grapefruit juices.

I had an Angry Little Tree, which tasted most strongly of raspberry. You can take your cocktail with you into the movie, as well.

In the lobby gift shop area, there is a decent amount of Guardians merchandise, including mugs, scented pencils, and a lunchbox. If you liked the soundtrack, you can take one home on CD because they have that also.

The only disappointing thing was that the massive floor-to-ceiling poster wall in the lobby was featuring Alien instead of Guardians, which would have been a more colorful, Instagram-ready franchise.

I saw this at iPic and could not recommend it more!

ArcLight is the best theater in Bethesda at the moment.

I like both, but iPic has an older crowd so I don't have to deal with as many kids. Plus walking around outside afterwards is nice.

    2. I like iPic as well, although the mall fast food options are better for my fat butt haha.

This ignores the big Bethesda news, which was that Guardians of the Galaxy was playing at the Bethesda Row Landmark. Did Landmark decide that they were going to tap the local multiplex market while Regal was out of town? Stay tuned, but maybe not to this blog.

I prefer the non 3D versions anyway. Oh man why didn't you tell us when you first noticed? I would totally have gone to see Beauty and the Beast at Bethesda Row instead of ArcLight.

Oh, I must have missed it, 5:42. I like Bethesda Row cause you walk outside afterwards and feel like part of a town. ArcLight walking into a mall is just bleh. iPic at least has the neighborhood feel when you walk out. Much better theater environment at iPic.

  20. 6:44: Helpless Hans should be nice and refrain from insults, or we will constantly remind him of his campaign checks from Mitt Romney's Bain Capital and Danaher Corporation, two pioneers in outsourcing. Or that he voted to create a tax shelter that allows his sugar daddy Mitch Rales to protect $360 million from federal taxation, which is now being investigated by Congress.

As far as Hans winning in the last election, we know the cemetery precincts came in strong for Riemer, and that has now been verified by the Judicial Watch report that shows more voter names on the rolls than there are actual eligible voters in MoCo!

  21. 7:34: Both true - at least for earlier screenings. Late nights are deserted around both theaters, thanks to Hans Riemer's failed nighttime economy initiative. ArcLight has the same problem though, because the mall closes everything around it.

IPic and Bethesda Row definitely have more going on late night than Montgomery Mall. The mall closing and retailers closing at iPic and Bethesda Row are the same thing.

Wasn't the nighttime economy initiative a set of recommendations? Has the county and retailers taken up the recommendations?

  22. 1:27: If I had been helped by illegal votes, I would have won, Sherlock.

1:25: No, it was broadly claimed by Hans Riemer in a media blitz that he was going revolutionize and improve nightlife. Central was ending the liquor monopoly, which he instead ultimately embraced and fought to preserve. The recommendations adopted failed, and 10 bars closed in Bethesda, as well as reduced hours at other "nighttime" businesses. Also, food trucks that used to work downtown Bethesda at night vanished, too, along with 96% of all food trucks.

"Riemer voted to create a tax shelter that allows his sugar daddy Mitch Rales to protect $360 million from federal taxation"

Argle Bargle. The County Council has no control over federal taxation, and Riemer has never been in Congress.

    1. 3:59: You dumbass, the County Council voted all necessary approvals for the Glenstone "museum," which is used as a tax shelter to hide $363 million from federal taxes, and counting. Your reading skills are quite poor. Riemer voted to create the tax shelter, in exchange for $4000+ in campaign contributions from Rales.

5:05 AM, I partially agree with you, but what Robert does is not 'journalism'. Why is it that he is constantly provided false facts or he makes an argument about something he does not understand. Robert is a great source for bringing to attention what is happening, but not a reliable source that can be taken at face value.

Bethesda Magazine regularly plagiarises Dyer and presents false facts in their own articles. I can't take them at face value.

I heard their publisher can't go near schools. Something is going on.

6:52 AM It's the anonymous troll that mentions other sites. No one else cares.

Of course, if the Magazine writers want to continue to plagiarize and defame Dyer, then I expect he'll respond.

MoCo residents are turning the page and Dyer is filling the void left by the local legacy print media.

Great to see coverage is the news deserts of Rockville and East County now across Dyer's network of local sites. He has the leading site in both areas now.

No, it's Dyer who promulgates mentioning other sites. Just look through the site and the comments. It's right there obvious for all to see.
