The victim accepted the offer, and was driven to a home in the 8300 block of Thoreau. As the victim walked from the SUV toward the house, he was allegedly jumped by the two men, whom he said then punched, kicked, and stabbed him multiple times. They then fled in the SUV.
Someone called 911, and the victim was transported to a local hospital. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
Police not only want any information you might have about this case, but in particular, they are interested in video from home surveillance cameras on Thoreau Drive and other nearby streets. They ask that you review any footage you have, and if you see suspicious activity or the silver SUV, to share that with them.
Anyone who has information about the suspects or stabbing is asked to call the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6710. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.

4:21: I think you're likely correct that, like the Montgomery Village double homicide, a key piece of the puzzle is missing in this story. They both sound like drug deals gone bad, although the overkill in the village incident of 22+ shots would be highly unusual for just a drug deal.

ReplyDeleteI think the victim was staggeringly drunk and the perpetrators were cruising the neighborhood looking to do the usual (break into cars) when they saw this easy target. I bet he was stumbling up the road so couldn't be missed. Then they just figured to beat him up "for fun", like for being rich or maybe for his race even.
ReplyDeleteThe typical car break-in types in this area are teenagers or a few years older, and not quite professionals, so that's why they didn't rob him (or he had nothing to take.. or he was too drunk to know if they robbed him or he just dropped stuff).
Nonetheless, doesn't give you a good feeling to know these types of characters are cruising our streets looking to make trouble.
@9:03 Yeah that was also just off Wilson Lane, and it was a "carjacking" on a quiet residential street. Very fishy since what are the chances a car will pull up _and_ not park in the garage? I think it was a drug deal delivery gone bad.

Victim was from same street and block as the perpetrator in the link above. Same age too. Same person perhaps?
Dyer -- if you can pull the crime report from MCPD for this latest incident, you can probably figure out if it's the same person. That would be quite a scoop to report on.
