Update - July 20: A EuroMotorcars spokesperson said today there will be retail space in the new development at the corner of Arlington Road and Bethesda Avenue, but also confirmed the plan does not currently include any residential space.
EuroMotorcars has announced it intends to redevelop its 4-acre dealership property, located at 7020 Arlington Road in downtown Bethesda. A public meeting is being held to unveil their plans on Tuesday, August 1, at 7:00 PM, at 7020 Arlington Road.
A EuroMotorcars spokesperson confirmed this morning that the dealership and its service facility will remain at its current location. The new dealership will be designed to be more in line with the current vision for downtown Bethesda. They acknowledge that building the new facility while operating the dealership "will be challenging."
Many real estate observers have speculated about the potential to assemble the EuroMotorcars site with the adjacent Bradley Shopping Center for a major, Bethesda Row-style mixed-use development. The move by EuroMotorcars to invest in new facilities means such a deal is now far off in the future, at best.
EuroMotorcars had already given indications it was going to stay in Bethesda, upgrading its showroom last year, and investing in a nearby service facility and garage on River Road.
Bring back Coleman Cadillac!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. Would be awesome to have more housing, office, and retail there instead of that dealership. Even if they incorporated the dealership into a mixed use development.
ReplyDelete"A EuroMotorcars spokesperson confirmed this morning that the dealership and its service facility will remain at its current location."
ReplyDeleteSo how come you believe them, but not the owner of Tastee Diner?
He believed Radio Shack too but never restaurant owners (I don't disagree).
DeleteI think what they should do is move all service to the River Road location, then move the tiny Audi dealership they have on Wisconsin Ave over to where the main Euro dealership is.
ReplyDeleteWhatever they do, can they provide guarantees they won't have car carrier trucks blocking a lane of Arlington Road during rush hour? They do that on an almost daily basis, including yesterday.
Are Justice Tuesday's still a thing? Or did the developers win?
ReplyDelete@7:16 Rational thinking won. They were protesting over a supposed cemetery that some other entity sold off, years ago. They should have protested back when it was sold off, not now.
ReplyDelete#JusticeTuesdays, Kaldi's is closing, Tastee Diner is sold!
ReplyDelete7:16: Developer didn't "win" yet - the matter is in mediation.
ReplyDelete7:50: There's zero evidence any remains were legally relocated from the cemetery, which is well-established in land records. Real cemetery, not "supposed."
Did all of Hans voters come from that specific cemetery? I love when you go on these delusional rants about 40,000 zombies and dead people voting for him.
DeleteRobert does have a point on the 40,000 votes. At least the evidence Robert has presented seem to vouch for his claims.
ReplyDeleteWhat evidence? Proof?
ReplyDeleteBig, big Bethesda development news and "Anonymous" wants to turn the comments into his daily litany of resentments about Robert Dyer.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
How come "Maloney Concrete" has nothing to say about the actual subject of the article?
ReplyDeleteI posted 8:27 AM, not Dyer. Please stop accusing Dyer of posting anonymously.
ReplyDelete"I posted 8:27 AM, not Dyer. Please stop accusing Dyer of posting anonymously."
ReplyDeleteYou'd be more credible if you had said, "please stop accusing me of being Dyer."
Don't forget me!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous posts bizarre off topic comments then turns around and says "wow..so many crazy comments"
ReplyDeleteThat block of retail on Bethesda Lane would do so much better if Euromotorcars contributed to the streetscape with mixed used retail on their side and the Arlington/Bethesda corner in particular.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the frequency, Kenneth?
ReplyDeleteWonder how much he's paid to omit Dyer from the newsletter and pump up his partners?
You're better than that, Ken.
"[Friends of Robert Dyer] posts bizarre off topic comments then turns around and says "wow..so many crazy comments"
ReplyDeleteLOL
9:33: You just commented on one of many articles that could have been linked to - the redevelopment of EuroMotorcars. In fact, Hartman plagiarized my report without citing me as the source in his taxpayer-funded newsletter.
ReplyDeleteWhat costs money in Hartman's newsletter? What are my taxes paying for!
DeleteIs that why the sheepshills brought that name up out of the clear blue sky?
ReplyDeleteAll y'all have this "in the know" thing going on that many regular readers don't understand. I tried to ask if you guys know each other or grew up together or worked together, but no one answered. When i try to look someone up, I don't make sense of the significance. It's confusing.
2:07: Your taxes pay for all charges related to maintaining and operating County email platforms.
ReplyDeleteSo it's a county newsletter being paid for by county taxes? You just don't like the guy running it? (8:20 here, still trying to understand)
