Where to watch Mayweather vs. McGregor in Bethesda

Where to watch the much-hyped Mayweather vs. McGregor fight in Bethesda? First you have to find out when is the Mayweather vs. McGregor date - tomorrow, Saturday, August 26, at 9:00 PM. Second, get ready to pay up, as it won't be free.

Many bars and restaurants will be showing the fight, including Caddies on Cordell (4922 Cordell Avenue), Tapp'd Bethesda (4915 St. Elmo Avenue), and Harp and Fiddle (4844 Cordell Avenue). Maybe there would be more options if 11 nightspots hadn't closed after Montgomery County Councilmember Hans Riemer's disastrous nighttime economy initiative tanked Bethesda nightlife.

While I completely agree Montgomery County politics have played a part in preventing better nightlife options can you drop it already?

    Who's your money on, Dyer?

DUDE - just give the news that you promise in the headlines. We don't need you harping about Hans and the lack of night time fun.

You know what killed the nighttime economy? Stupidly expensive living in Bethesda basically drove out all the young single people who used to make Bethesda a somewhat hopping place. Combine that with re-development of properties that previously offered relatively affordable leases for the bar owners... Damn, some days I just miss Flanigans.

Your broken record is like listening to Trump blame democrats and Obama for his continued failures to lead. Wah wah wah.

Well, that was an exercise in useless verbosity.

So 11 nightspots closed, but none opened to replace them?

Are you counting Tommy Joe's as 3 closed nightspots - Roof, Pan-Asia, and the original Tommy Joe's on Montgomery Avenue? Rather than a net gain because this site was an abandoned furniture repair shop when Hans Riemer entered office in 2011?

Do you really miss Steamers that much? Do you think that sidewalk laws matter, but bar hours laws don't? (Same deal with Relic.)

And Dyer will not venture into Downtown Bethesda out of fear for of the Glen Aldon residents.

Ya know, this would have been much more useful a couple of days ago.

Most of us Bethesdians like to plan our weekend more than just six hours before it starts.

Exactly. It's not a nighttime crowd. Stores from Friendship Heights have relocated to Bethesda - which is reflective of the changing demographic. Daytime shopping more than nighttime anything.

It's kind of hard to read those signs in your pictures (The way the "web" version of your site is set up, you have to jump through several hoops to zoom the images.)

Why not list the cover charges for all three places, so your readers don't need to squint?

    Caddies on Cordell
    -Advanced Sale: $20
    -Downstairs Table Deposit: $60
    -Upstairs Table Deposit: $75

    Tapp'd
    -$25 presale: $25
    -Door: $30

    Harp & Fiddle
    ???

Also, when do the advanced sales expire?

If you say "Bethesdian", you are not one.

If you have lived all your life in Westbard, then you are not a "lifelong Bethesda resident".

    Never heard "Bethesdian" before.

Dyer is a life long Bethesda resident. He's a well established activist in the Bethesda community and publisher of several news sites covering MoCo.

Looks like the New Great White Hope got bodyslammed through a coffee table last night.
