Duball, LLC's Stonehall Bethesda ultra-luxury condominium project was officially welcomed to Bethesda yesterday by the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce and local officials at a ribbon-cutting celebration. Marc Dubick, President and co-founder of Duball, thanked the many project partners present for their contributions, and joined GBCOC incoming Board of Directors Chair Jane Fairweather in cutting the ribbon in the lobby.
Guests then toured the building, including the rooftop deck, fitness center, party room and model units, while enjoying refreshments. Duball has a second ultra-luxury project nearing completion in Bethesda, the Cheval Bethesda condo tower. The company also developed the Lionsgate condominiums on Woodmont Avenue.

5:44: How can I plagiarize the first report on the ribbon-cutting published anywhere? Think about it.

ReplyDeleteHey, you deleted my comment.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like sponsored content.
Guess we know who Dyer works for now.
You could have denied it.
Deleting it looks shady. Must be true.

ReplyDeleteBlatantly sponsored content.
Guess that's who Dyer is working for these days.
No one would go to all this trouble without being paid.
5:36 AM
"Deleting it looks shady. Must be true."
ReplyDeleteI've learned that is exactly what that means on this blog.
This is pretty clear sponsored content. I remember when Robert actually labeled it as such one time. I am assuming if you pay him 200 dollars for an ad, he will not label it as such. If this is not sponsored content, Robert is the dumbest business owner/attempting to monetize a hobby blog person I have ever met.
ReplyDeleteSomeone posts as me to insult someone.
ReplyDeleteI guess I shouldn't be surprised.
This is a great report on the ribbon cutting event! Bethesda's newest building. Great look inside at the finishes and amenities.
Maybe it was Andy Van slyke, seems he is the one that does the name copying and insulting. I don’t see any insult though?
Delete6:26: I would be delighted if Duball would like to purchase an ad on my website. The fact is, they have not done so to date, and I haven't received a dime from the company. This is not sponsored content, old sport.
ReplyDeleteI love a lot of photos, and I've haven't criticized you in the past as others have done in this area, but 65 images, especially on the homepage is kind of overkill.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to show that many pictures, that's fine, but there's html code (jump/page break) you can add so that the homepage only shows an abbreviated version of the article, and then you can click on the title for the full article.
Just a recommendation
blogspot probably split the rest of the content to page two because of the length of the content without a break/jump.
Delete"City lights view on this side of the building"
ReplyDeleteIt's Bethesda, MD for Pete's sake - not a "city" - the area isn't even incorporated.
6:37: Don't go into the real estate business!
ReplyDelete6:39: Don't go into the journalism business!
ReplyDeleteDyer, I'm having problem loading all the images on my Jitterbug. Can you send me one strong black & white image?
ReplyDelete6:37am is clueless if he doesn't think buildings in Downtown Bethesda have city lights views. It's standard in real estate listings.
ReplyDeleteWow...just wow.
Folks are suggesting Dyer adopt the policy of other local sites where they require local businesses to buy ads to receive any coverage? That's not how journalism works.
ReplyDeleteYeah most have a business model they need to earn profits with. Dyer’s completely free of anyone else because he doesn’t have these constraints. Free journalism at its best!!
DeleteIt's not that Dyer needs people to pay him to report, its that he literally writes he will cover your construction updates for a fee on his website. As you can see here Robert says he will post this for 50 dollars. However, as we just saw, he will also do it for free if you just invite him. It's Robert's business model that I believe 6:26 AM was referring to since he gives people the option to pay him to report on this. They are saying its either sponsored since they have the option to pay and it is not marked as such, or Robert is not following his own business model, meaning he is probably doing this as a person who genuinely cares about reporting openings and breaking news as a lifelong resident and not as some who is trying to innovate the news.
ReplyDeleteI think Robert is struggling to keep up his sites.
ReplyDeleteHe's way too busy with his real job.
That must be why he can't imagine working full time and going for a PhD.
I don't think he cares about these things, he wants people to think that he does.
He's made it apparent that he's most concerned with telling people his opinion
Why pay for the cow, when you can get the milk for free?
ReplyDelete"I'll post 65 pictures of your development, tell readers all about it, and you can give me....**NOTHING**
So they're either thrilled with free advertising or they think no one read the blog.
Win-win for them.
The other website sent Bethany to the same opening to report on it. Must've been awkward for 2 competing news sites to be taking photos of the same rooms!
ReplyDeleteDid Dyer try to flirt with her for some inside info on their operations?
I agree that Robert loves his reporting and believes what he is doing is in everyone's best interests. I disagree that 6:26 AM took that stance.
ReplyDelete6:32: Good advice. The "jump" tag really needs to be used on posts like this. Otherwise it simply encourages people to click away from the site faster than they would otherwise. Nobody wants to scroll and scroll (and scroll, and scroll, and scroll) just to get to article # 2.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally this practice of putting all 65 images on the homepage was cited as one of the reasons this site is not included in Google News. It baffles me that the author will not consider changing his opinion based on this very reasonable critique. He seems to think other outlets move images to a second page "for extra clicks" but it's actually a major readability issue.
Is there a link to the reasons Google gave?
Delete8:11AM Because he thinks he knows best.
ReplyDeleteDyer has the only reporting from the ribbon cutting event that I've seen. It's a good report.
ReplyDeleteAww, Andy, Andy, Andy, and you're the prototypical internet shill. So enamored of a local blogger that you'll jump through hoops to get his attention and embarrass
ReplyDeleteyourself.
But still too shy to use your real name. Because then it would be real and everyone would know?
Challengers will use their real name, supporters won't.
What does that tell you?
BTW, BB is reporting Dyer told them he might be running.
So many picture Bob, does Mark or Jane pay you by the number of pics?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I feel like I was at the event.
ReplyDeleteI think Robert had the exclusive report on the actual ribbon cutting event :)
"Republican Robert Dyer, a local blogger who has run in previous at-large races, has told Bethesda Beat he is considering entering the race."
ReplyDeleteRobert Dyer talks to his archrival? Cool!
Roald, another "prototypical internet shill."
ReplyDeleteAll the minions are coming out of the shadows today!
But, but, but...the ribbon-cutting!!
I endorse Robert Dyer's endorsement of Democratic Senator Chris van Hollen!
ReplyDeleteRobert Dyer: "Yes, occupied, but not by a rich person. We're talking about the flight of the rich here. How do I know who is in the new buildings? From being in them and talking to the new residents. Very few are on the Forbes list, folks. Hence, it's virtually impossible that they are paying the advertised rents. The tab is being picked up by corporate or government at a discount rate to the corporation or government below the advertised rent. Many of the units are empty altogether."
ReplyDeleteSigns of life in Dyer's report! Good to actually see the ribbon cutting, the development team and Chamber!
ReplyDeleteAw, are you feeling left out I Remember Gifford's?
ReplyDeleteI Remember Gifford's, another "prototypical internet shill."
But, but, but...the ribbon-cutting!!
There ya go! Better now?
Ouch, from Google.
ReplyDeleteNew: Community Updates in Google News
by Elena L. Sep 14
Readers,
We're excited to announce that we've launched Community Updates in Google News to bring you the news and events happening in your own backyard. We're now showing additional local publishing sources like high school newspapers and hyperlocal bloggers to help people find more information about their own communities. Read all about Community Updates on our blog.
Robert Dyer is doing his job here reporting on the real estate beat in Bethesda. He's doing a good job filling the local news void since the Gazette closed.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous is just posting the same insults again.
I imagine if I worked with the negative "Anonymous" man, he would stand at my desk every day and scream insults, try to unplug my keyboard, etc. That's kind of what he does on this site everyday. Alas, Dyer continues to report and grow his audience. What does "anonymous" have to show for his insults?
No, Dyer really isn't doing a good job, "Giffords" He's slacked off bigly in the past few months. He's more aggressive, insistent on his opinions being fact. He doesn't follow up, even when asked. He'd rather delete the question than answer. I may be the only person in my office that still reads this blog-one joins in and says he doesn't, but I think I recognize some comments as being his.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, your "anonymous man" is at least 6 different people. You can see it in the writing styles. Two of which are fairly recognizable as also being commenters on BB.
Some of us comment to try and set straight the inconsistencies and misrepresentations of the author. Some disagree with his blatantly wrong allegations, critiquing or supporting their view with reason, logic, and evidence. And I guess some just to rattle him. Dyer, you, and the other shills see everything as attacks & screaming insults. And that's a shame.
This same type thing goes on in other blogs too. Why should this one be different?
I concur.
Delete10:40am you're giving a lot of opinions but no facts. Sorry, I don't believe you.
Delete10:40 is right on.
Delete10:40 AM It's the same man, same insults, same list of resentments against Dyer.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't 6 people in Bethesda who call a journalist they don't like a "retard", among other bad words. Sorry.
There's that sorry litany of complaints by the shills:
ReplyDeletesame man, same insults, same list of resentments against Dyer
But we all see it isn't. To believe you, all comments that aren't either Dyer or you are from the same man. HORSEHOCKEY!
11:13AM - maybe that's because I was giving my opinion Everyone doesn't use that adjective. That's probably one person. But none of the 6 I was referring to were using that description.
Either this little blog gets a lot of readers and commenters or it's all one lone pathetic man and however many of you shills really exist. Can't have it both ways.
Folks, get out into the sunlight and talk to people around Bethesda. Dyer is widely read.
ReplyDelete12:22 The only one disputing your comment is the sheepshill who claims every comment that doesn't praise Dyer is from ONE man, Dyer's enemy. See comment by 10:49.
ReplyDelete"Widely" is subjective, but of course Dyer's blog has readers.
12:56 PM Stop lying. No one else has a report from the ribbon cutting event.
ReplyDeleteTaking pictures of an empty building isn't covering a Chamber ribbon cutting event. I'm sorry, it just isn't. Nice try though.
ReplyDeleteI remember Gifford's @ 10:19 AM said:
ReplyDelete"Robert Dyer is...doing a good job filling the local news void since the Gazette closed."
Except that Bethesda Beat is doing a much better job of that.
@ 10:49 AM said: "...same list of resentments against Dyer.
@ 12:22 PM said: "Folks, get out into the sunlight and talk to people around Bethesda. Dyer is widely read."
@ 1:13 PM said: "Stop lying..."
1:50 PM Why are you so defensive about your report? You took pictures of an empty building. Dyer covered the actual event. Readers can decide which was a news report and which was just a couple of promotional photos. Get out and talk to people for your next article, like Dyer did here.
ReplyDelete1:54 there you go again, thinking all comments are from ONE LONE GUY.
ReplyDeleteStop selling Dyer short. He has more than just one reader besides you.
He has more than one person, other than you, commenting on this little blog thing.
And I thought you liked Dyer.
Catching up on my daily dose of Dyer via mobile -- why only one story on the front page today?
ReplyDeleteGood to see actual live people in Dyer's report and not an empty building.
ReplyDeleteyucky some of these layouts were poorly done and tiny. Cool looking building from Woodmont. The battery side is lacking.
DeleteI love how Dyer is filling the gap left by the Gazette's closure. No news print on my hands either!
ReplyDeleteSurprised #UnsignedDyer hasn't written "Wait two months to read in the glossy magazine at my dentist's office" yet.
ReplyDelete"Good to see actual live people in Dyer's report"
ReplyDeleteNext week he will claim that they can't actually afford to live there.
I didn't have any newsprint on my hands from reading the Gazette during its last decade, since I read their online edition.
ReplyDeleteThe Gazette online edition was just the articles from the weekly print newspaper.
DeleteOn-topic comment - those bedrooms look very small. I note that the beds shown are double beds, not queen or king, to make the room look bigger.
ReplyDeleteThe Magazine was at the soft opening of George’s Chophouse. Dyer - no invite. How’s that for a metaphorical bodyslam, Bobby. Guess your nastiness is catching up with you, old sport. Looking forward to the article in Bethesda Magazine soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Proud of our interns.
DeleteLook for the article in our summer 2018 ethnic dining issue.
Are you saying your interns are better journalists than Dyer?!?
DeleteSo, the Anonymous man who calls Dyer a "retard", is complaining about"nastiness"??!!
ReplyDeleteYou can't make this stuff up.
The bedspread in Photos #19 and #20 is awful. Looks like they didn't bother to iron it after they unpacked it. Very bad lack of attention to detail for a showing.
ReplyDeleteHint: That's not really Steve. Simply another of the many sheepshills using the name to bully and demean another local business. Disgusting behavior.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteLet's be clear, posting pictures of an empty building is not covering the ribbon cutting event. Lol... do better next time and actually attend the event .
DeletePosting too many photos have readers moving on after the first few pictures.
ReplyDeleteFunny reaction considering Dyer reports on things he doesn't attend.
I'm sure you tell him to "do better next time and actually attend the event."
5:29: Which events have I reported on that I didn't attend?
ReplyDelete2:04: That was not a report about the ribbon-cutting. A report announcing a building is completed is not a report about the actual ribbon-cutting and grand opening event, old sport.
