Boardwalk Burgers and Fries closes in Bethesda (Photo)
Boardwalk Burgers and Fries has closed in Bethesda. The Ocean City-inspired franchise opened in the Dining Terrace at Westfield Montgomery Mall almost exactly a year ago. A wall has been erected around their space until a new tenant can be signed. Boardwalk rounds out a trifecta of burger joints that failed in this very spot; Kraze Burgers and Burger Venue were the earlier victims.
That's what... the 25th business to close at Montgomery Mall this year?

Sounds like the same problem as downtown Bethesda retail but doesn’t get the same diatribe treatment from Asher.
DeleteMeanwhile, a much bigger closure, closer to Bethesda, is in the news... elsewhere.
ReplyDelete6:07: Wrong - the Chevy Chase Supermarket closure was known years ago. Old news. Your lack of knowledge of Bethesda hurts your credibility, too - Chevy Chase is not Bethesda, but Montgomery Mall is in Bethesda, old sport.
ReplyDelete5:36: It is the same. All restaurants and bars in the County are being hurt by the County Council's votes and policies. Who's "Asher?" Could it be Bob Asher, the former Washington Post editorial page member who criminally conspired to lie about Marilyn Goldwater's health, so I would not be elected in 2006? Thanks for reminding me about Bob Asher, so gutless he had to hang up on me when I called after he invented #FakeNews in 2006.

ReplyDeleteDyer, your thoughts kinda wander all over the place. Have you ever considered ADD medication?
ReplyDelete6:16: Considering I'm right on every issue, and the Council is wrong, what medication do you recommend for them?
ReplyDelete6:15: You posted a false and defamatory statement, a violation of comment guidelines.
Robert, I've looked all over your site, and I can't seem to find any page with these "Comment Guidelines". Is this something you just make up as you go along, every time a reader asks you an inconvenient question?
ReplyDeleteVery reasonable question.
DeleteThat burger joint was the same ownership as the first and second re-branding. They just ran out of concept changes to try an win customers from Mickey Dee's. It failed as did the downtown Btown location. This is no big loss, just a opportunity to try another variety of fast food, so get over yourself, you whinny little bastard.
ReplyDeleteThere are good places that fit in well with mall food courts. But turnover in this food court, seems high and frequent.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like Chef Jose Andres as a chef (hate his liberal politics) and his humanitarian work, his vegetarian (or mostly) has got to be losing a ton of money. Bobby Flay is really missing out because his place is very good but the location is Mars and no one knows it's down there. Move him up or even next to the theater. That would do well.
Mall needs more Fried Chicken and Rib joints.
ReplyDelete@12:07 The food court has has some turnover, but I think it was places that just didn't fit in well. There was the dumpling place (which had been tried before in the same food court and failed), the lobster place (too expensive), and the pizza place which was a sit-down restaurant next to a food court -- weird.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, some places do consistently well, like Sarku, Panda Cafe, McD's, Cava, Chipotle, and the cheesesteak place.
I think Jose Andres place will be next to go.
If they put in a proper burger place like Five Guys or Shake Shack, that would do well -- or just get the Bobby Flay's place to move in.
There are no false or defamatory statements in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThere are no posted guidelines to read and follow.
Your reasoning doesn't hold up.
Be careful with your words, because once they've been said, they can only be forgiven; not forgotten.
