Bistro LaZeez has been dark for a couple of nights at 8009 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda. Last night, a sign on the door said, "Closed Today." Their website now says "Bistro LaZeez is temporarily closed." No reason for the closure was given on either message.
It has been closed for most of January. Anyone know what’s up there. Miss the fabulous food and service!!!

Yes, Bethesda Beat is better than that, which is why they have credited Dyer with his reports on other restaurant closings. Before accusing them of theft, did it occur to you that they were waiting to hear back from the owner, whom they attempted to reach?

"The restaurant at 8009 Norfolk Ave. has not opened for at least the past two days and on Thursday afternoon there was a handwritten sign posted on the door that said 'closed today.”
"Restaurateur Ramzi Osseiran took over the restaurant in 2015, although it’s not clear that he still owns it. Attempts to contact him Thursday were unsuccessful. Calls to the phone line at the restaurant went immediately to voicemail.
"The restaurant serves a variety of Mediterranean dishes such as chicken kababs, hummus and falafel.
"If the eatery closes permanently, it would join a growing list of county restaurants that have closed in the last six months—including Bethesda’s Yamas Mediterranean Grill, which closed Tuesday. Pi Pizzeria, another downtown Bethesda restaurant, announced this week that it is closing Friday."

ReplyDeleteHeck, what is the employee morale like working for Sears? You're working for a has-been and never know when you'll be laid off or your employer will declare bankruptcy. I'm sure all the competent employees have jumped ship to take better jobs elsewhere, so all that's left is the incompetent people who can't easily get another job.

ReplyDeleteSo you think it's just a coincidence that the lease was renewed on that very same day, one year less two months after Sears sold that store to Westfield?
