Stock up on earplugs, and fire up the white noise machines. Carr Properties has requested a Temporary Noise Waiver from Montgomery County to allow for installation of subsurface pilings and caissons for the future Purple Line station at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue.
Work will be performed during daytime and nighttime hours. The nighttime work hours, starting around March 5, will be from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM Monday through Friday, and 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
No worries for Dyer... he is always roaming the streets of Bethesda at night.
ReplyDeleteI live in the area, and so far the noise is not too bad. Certainly much less likely than the demo of the JBG Smith building at 4747 Bethesda in the same block. That seemed to take forever.
ReplyDeleteI say, Like taking a bandaid off, do it quick and get it over with as soon and possible, even if they need to work at night.
As an aside, they seem to be operating a street cleaning truck quite often through the neighborhood to reduce the muddy roads caused by the trucks leaving the site. Not perfect, but they seem to be doing their best.
I wonder if the Barking Dog owner couldn’t create a great deal on a burger and fries at lunch and get lots of those construction workers to stop by to offset his reduced visibility and dirty roads Elm. Got lemons, makes some lemonade. Maybe give the roach coach a run for their money. Put a boot scrubber on the sidewalk to curb the muddy boots for tracking in the mud. I’d love a great bar burger once and a while too. Maybe work with Carr to put up some renderings of the future building to remind all of the huge changes that will be coming to this area with the new buildings and tons of new business in the area. Be a bit creative to stay in business until the area is completed. Maybe a good time to update his own facility to prepare for the huge improvement coming on Elm. A new south Metro entrance and Purple Line Station will be steps from his door.
Night work, weekend work. Sounds like working for Clark Construction is a 24 hour job.
