Cabin John Mall construction update (Photos)

Construction of new retail buildings at Cabin John Village, a.k.a. Cabin John Center, a.k.a. Cabin John Shopping Center and Cabin John Mall, is now well underway. Future tenants will include new restaurants, the most-anticipated of which is Montgomery County's first Shake Shack location. I like how the banners around the property are emblazoned with a phrase that strikes terror in our corrupt Montgomery County elected officials: "Plenty of free parking." Now, if we could just get a drive-thru for that Shake Shack...

Does the phrase "plenty of free parking" literally "strike terror in our corrupt Montgomery County elected officials"?

It's idiotic statements like these that make Bethesdians look elsewhere for their local news.

I had Shake Shake at Tyson’s recently and was very underwhelmed.

8:40 - Then you need to go back. Shake Shack is about the best burger in this entire food sector.
I love Five Guys and am one of the few in MoCo. who routinely made the trek to NOVA to eat at their very first store. I don't prefer the fries at Shake Shack but the custom blend burger they get from La Frieda Meats in NYC, is far superior. At least this new location will be devoid of annoying tourists. Bring it on.

How many retail jobs will this development add, Mr. Dyer?

A quote for your bird brain. "For those of you praying for the day where you’ll be able to wait out the long Shack Shack lines in your car, we have some bad news for you. CEO Randy Garutti once told the Connecticut Post,”we spend five times what a fast food chain spends on design. Their model is to get you in and out … We will never do a drive through.”

Our Precious Lord and Saviour did not spend three hours on the Cross, die, descend into Hell and then rise again in Glory just so that you could order a burger in your car, Master Robert.

  10. 1:33: More importantly, how many more will we lose during the months before it opens?

  11. 7:47: It's idiotic councilmembers who keep getting rid of free parking, and jacking up the parking fees where they already got rid of free parking, that make consumers choose other jurisdictions that still offer free parking. Just ask the folks who bypass the town center in Rockville for free parking at Rio, Crown and (2 hours) Pike & Rose. Baba Booey.

What does the County Council have to do with parking on private property?

The parking lot at Cabin John is the darkest and very dangerious.

With lights purchased from Tom Edison, you cannot see people walking in the lot.

    VERY bad lighting......time to upgvrade

What's really funny is that Dyer has #SponsoredContent for Rockville Town Square on his Rockville blog, with no mention of his whining about validated parking there.

  15. 7:03: What's really funny is that you don't mention that you have to buy something at Rockville Town Square to get validation. In contrast, at Pike & Rose, you get 2 hours free and clear. Rio and Crown are totally free for unlimited time. Folks who aren't content to work for pizza money and a free dingy apartment know the value of money.

3:35: They are approving plans that are turning free surface parking into paid parking all over the county, that's what.

    5:02: Agreed.

"What's really funny is that you don't mention that you have to buy something at Rockville Town Square to get validation."

Ha ha ha... just buy something, you cheapskate. Why should any merchant subsize your aimless wanderings?

"They are approving plans that are turning free surface parking into paid parking all over the county, that's what."

On what basis should the Council deny a private property owner's right to use their property as they see fit, to the highest and best use? Just pay for your damn parking you cheapskate, or at least buy something, and quit yer commie bitchin'.

  17. 9:31: The property owners don't have that right - they are asking the Council to grant them that right. Do you buy things you don't need? No wonder you have to rely on pizza money and free dingy apartments from the MoCo cartel!

  18. We all know Montgomery County LOVES their parking meters..............nickel and dime us to death. Smartest thing I've seen from County leadership lately is free parking on weekends in Bethesda, and White Flint. I wonder when that stops?
