Furniture Place opens at Westfield Montgomery Mall, Viva Japanese Steakhouse coming soon (Photos)

Furniture Place has opened on Level 1 at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Living rooms, bedrooms, even home theater recliners with supersize cupholders, Furniture Place has it all. Their high-tech showroom includes a touchscreen catalog.

In other mall news, Viva Japanese Steakhouse will open in the vacant MET Bethesda space outside of the ArcLight Cinemas on Level 3 in the Dining Terrace. The steak and sushi experience will open this summer.

In 10 months Sears closes. I give the rest of the mall another 2 years, tops.

How do you know that Sears is closing in 10 months?

Sears' lease lasts until March. Given how close they came to shutting that store earlier this year, it's extremely unlikely that the lease will be renewed again.

Montgomery Mall is going the way of White Flint and Black Flint (Landover Mall).

Furniture Place is just a temporary pop-up, gone in a few months. No big deal.

Viva won't be opening any time soon. They don't pay their contractors and are constantly getting fined by the mall for not following proper procedure.

  7. 8:58: Do you mean the County inspectors are fining them?
